I'll handle captain duties and make a Google Group so we can get a forum started and get invites out.

You're joking, right?
It is a crap game, but with autofire it's not as bad. at least with autofire you are able to kill a couple of enemies.
I think this year this would make a great game. something for everyone to get their mutual hate behind.

ooohhhohoh yes it is, doesn't matter how much autofire you cram into it (not that it needs it)

Vasara. That is all.
These appear to be decent choices, although if emulating Raiden Fighters is a problem on some machines/MAME versions then P-47 Aces and Batsugun might be worse.

Dunno about P-47 Aces, but Batsugun works "flawlessly" (whatever that means) on the latest MAME, and it's pretty easy to emulate.

I don't know if it's the version of MAME I use or if it's just my computer, but Batsugun is missing a lot of graphics and sound. I'm sure it would be easy to fix though.

They fixed the sound issues with Toaplan games. I haven't tried it out yet though since I'm lazy as hell with updating MAME. I think with the newest MAME version and roms Batsugun, V-V etc.. are supposed to be pretty good.

yes.

right now, in the latest version of mame, dogyuun, grind stormer/v-v, batsugun/special, knuckle bash (not a shmup), and all of fixeight's versions are "figured out"; now these games probably work as well as mame could ever get them to.

unfortunately, i don't think any other toaplan improvements have been announced since.

I dont mean to be a dick but why are ppl doing the team registration so soon? wont a thread for all that be created for all that?

I was thinking maybe ChoRenSha for the nonmame week but XOP Black or Ultra would be cool. Ive just been reading Udderdude's Retro Gamer interview. Well Done Sir!

I was hoping someone would second my Twinbee suggestion, that makes me so sad :P

I'm pretty sure dex is already well ahead of the curve on picking a list of tournament-worthy games that we haven't played before. If you want to guess what we're playing, go ahead, but if your suggestion shows up it's probably just a coincidence.

Ah sorry, I thought the point of this thread was to put forward suggestions for whatever games Dex does finally pick out. Still it is a little late in the day to be putting forward suggestions especially the more obscure STGs which havnt been play tested to death to see if its STGT worthy

Figured it out. The picture is named "Hacha.jpg", and it is has NMK in the pic. Using the given clues, I searched it on youtube.
It's a shmup, and it looks interesting.

So, any hard ideas on when STGT actually starts? I'm kind of scheduling my entire summer around this, so it'd be good to know how much time I have to practice before it starts.

Or at least a general idea of what the game line up may be so we can start? I'm probably asking for to much though.

Is STGT '11 formally connected to/associated with the Shmups forum--or is it something that is part of some other host site/web group. I ask because it sounds like good fun and I would definitely like to participate, an basically just wanted to be sure that registration occurs here and not on some other site where it might easily elude me.
