You bastard, I can't believe you no missed the whole game.

I watched your replay. We do the first pattern a little differently, I stay at the bottom and stream in, whereas you go up a little bit. I may need to try it your way though, cuz I need a consistent way to clear the whole pattern.

thanks

Hiya!

I'm from Europe and just got the game. I was wondering if it'd be possible to get Black Label through a US account (as it isn't available in the EU marketplace T_T) and it on my european account. Thanks in advance for any help provided :)

If you buy it on one account, all accounts on that system should be able to use it, yes. This is confirmed by the fact that I can play BL with my JP silver account, if I want to for some reason.

No I'm still here so there's no need to worry.

Still playing MF. Haven't touched Galuda yet, but thanks for your kind words.

No problem. Get Futari Black Label someday, it rules and is a bit easier. I've only played 1.5 twice since getting it. Black Label's just a lot more fun, imo.

It is available through the european marketplace. Either search for "black lavel" (yes spell it like that) or select "all" titles and scroll right to the bottom of the page. 1200 points.

He's not trolling ffs, he's just trying to learn the game (and the genre by the looks of things). It's okay to ask questions and air frustrations, the only thing he (that's you Trouserplank) needs to cut back on are the overarching statements that things are "impossible" or "luck based", when they're most certainly not. You're forgiven for thinking that in the beginning though, I remember the feeling.

One day he'll look back on his statements and cringe, but in a good way. Keep practicing!

I think you'd need to avoid about 6 of the purple waves to kill him. That in itself is do-able, the problem is the small red bullets creep up on you while you're concentrating on the other stuff.

I actually think it can be tap dodged in a rhythm across the bottom of the screen once you thread through the first purple wave, but I've not managed to do it consistently yet as I think it's quite a tight gap at some points.

Oh, it is definitely do-able. That was just my first time fighting him in 1.5, so his health dropped a lot slower. I also usually just end up bombing that phase, but I decided not to that time, just to see how brutal it would be. I actually got through most of the purple waves, but when trying to dodge a red bullet I ran smack into a fast purple.

My counter was also way way too high, as I was scoring the whole time, and I had not died yet (although I had used all of my bombs). Multiplier was probably in the 12-15k area if I remember correctly, although its quite hard to pay attention to for me in 1.5, since I am not used to it

I think I'm gonna stick to BL Palm until I get the 1cc, and then I'll move over to 1.5.

Well, I only got my 1.5 1CC (240 million) after focusing on Black Label for the best part of two years - when I first switched to 1.5 I was pretty surprised by how difficult survival seemed to be. Still after spending a bit of time with it (and getting used to Abnormal Palm's pathetic C shot) I've noticed that I'm actually more consistent while playing for score in 1.5 than BL. That's probably mostly because I can actually play BL well enough to see high rank, but the point is that familiarity goes a long way. When you can anticipate where the enemies will come it's easier to see how to get 'under' them and take them out without getting cornered - and I think once this clicks stages 4 and 5 become a lot easier.

Is there any consensus on which character it's easier to get a 1CC with? I would have thought Abnormal Palm's almighty A shot would give him the edge; obviously it's tears through bosses, but its lock on lightning can also save you from being cornered sometimes.

I've only briefly experimented with anyone besides normal Reco. Her C shot is so wide that I think it helps alot when playing for survival. Especially when popcorn enemies are trying to corner you in level 4 for instance.

Fuck YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the clear.

Ver 1.5 360 - Original - Reco
BKD - 217,703,268 - All - Normal - (Lx0)

I'm fucking stoked right now. I think DeathSmiles is next on my list. I've had that game for awhile but never wanted to set my cab back to Yoko because I always had the Futari 1CC in the back of my mind.

And Sapz, thanks for the tip on the first pattern. It works well (even though I still blew it in my run and died on that pattern, but I was pretty close to getting through).

I'm gonna record my replay. I'll post it soon.

Partially that I practiced Larsa quite a bit just before that run, and partially that I'd been panicking throughout stage 5 and had kind of run out of panic by the boss. :P Having said that, what helped a lot is that I used all the bombs on the most threatening patterns; a lot of the rest aren't so bad after you practice them. The only one I'd really consider an autobomb if I had any to spare would be the third attack of her first phase, where the bullets speed up over time.

This has been a rather hot topic lately, and I've just been a little too busy to chime in.
I know I have bad mouthed this game before, but it has been the one with the right amount of challenge for me to continue to return to. Though it has humbled me, made me love it, and has always pushed me to play a little better. Played allot of 1.5 Original, but still haven't cleared it, sometimes it just seems a matter of putting it all together.
I did buy Black Label about a month a half ago, honestly it took a moment to find it on xbox live, it no longer just auto links from the main screen. Fun remix, the overpowered Reco is allot of fun. So, some time credit feeding through it to learn the new enemies (avoid the max power-up), I was able to finally clear it this week! 357 millions I think, no lives or bombs left. It was a good run, and I just bomb spammed Larsa for a safe win. I read a post from Skykid, saying how CIT (I think, couldn't find post) had a strategy for not scoring the first two levels to control rank. I had never done this, always play the levels razor sharp. Tried this the next day and cleared it easy as cake, died on the third level, but ended the game with one life, three bombs, for 451(ish) million! A better score to boot..
Anyways it's been dope to clear it, even if it's BL. I'm still playing it to get better consistency, and also clear with Palm. Been trying some 1.5 also, with the ideal of trying to keep rank down. The change from BL to 1.5 hasn't been too bad, way less slowdown, weaker shot, but allot less enemy activity. It seems like I can really parley this into a clear.
Big ups to BKD for his clear, I hope to be right behind you. Thanks to everyone else for keeping this topic on. And, what up to the guy being a loon and saying all the random stuff about the game being unfair. I just beat it. I took a long time, many hours, some homework, frustration, and dedication. But, I did it. So can you! Good luck with EspGaluda, that game gives me panic attacks. I think it is the shit, but I can't play it.

Definitely not gonna happen.

Even if I could clear certain parts without needing 5 lives, I could never do it all consistently enough to get it in a single run.

Well done on your clear, but you have to remember that if you're playing primarily for survival BL is a walk in the park compared to 1.5 - it's almost like a novice mode. After playing the 1.5 pcb and clearing it several times I played BL on the port, and, even with pretty awful lag, cleared it on my first go. 1.5 will test you by comparison.
DrTrouserPlank wrote: Definitely not gonna happen.
Well that's not the attitude is it, BKD just cleared it so it's perfectly feasible.

No progress made is about right.

With the amount of time I've spent on this in total it is ridiculous how far away from clearing it I am. Runs frequently end before I even get to stages and sequences that I have trouble with. Lives drip away over the course of the game like a leaking tap, and I can't get anywhere near my high-score.

All that considered it would be a bit surprising or indicative of me living in some sort of denial if I thought that a clear was just around the corner.

I think you're too casual a player to understand that the right way to take on a shooting game is with intelligent, focused practice. And for that, you need to know what your weak points are, what you fail at, and more importantly, how you will go about fixing the problems. If you don't know what your issues are, you'll never clear the hurdles along the way. People can only give you advice and encouragement, it is you that has to take it on board, and find a way of dealing with problems in your game.

Remember that every player started off on the bottom rung of the ladder, even myself. The better players got to where they are with practice, experience and perseverance. If you don't at least get into the right mindset and good playing habits, you'll never clear any shooting game outside of the trivially easy.

I don't know what magical format the practice you seem to be prescribing takes, but if I'm practicing levels for the umpteen hundredth time and I'm still dying because it boils down to patterns being too fast for me to dodge and there not being enough room to move, I don't see what else I can can do. Play the level again? done that. Sometimes I get through, sometimes I don't.

I'm still dying on patterns that I died on the first time I ever saw them, and it's not because I don't know the pattern. I've seen them enough times but it doesn't make any difference. If I am still dying it's because it's too fast or too tight, and what I find odd about this game is that patterns are relatively dense seeing as they move so fast you can't even see them sometimes.

Sorry to keep picking on you, man, but this genre doesn't really seem like it's for you. These are repetitive, hard games that takes hundreds of hours of practice, and unlike RPGs and many other types of games, you may never beat them, no matter how much time you put in.

Please don't take any offence to this, but based on what you're saying it sounds like you simply lack basic skill.

Perhaps shoot for a genre you find yourself more adept at.

... and then he beat his hi-score by 67M and got to the last boss...... in normal play mode :|

Albeit that I did have to bomb a lot of the latter 1/4 of stage 5 as it was barmy and 17k+ on the counter wasn't helping things.

Why do I play so badly in score attack?
