DIY cheap 360 degree photography.

Post by Pixel_Outlaw »

Hello again, I've been away inventing and programming.

Anyway, I've come up with a neat and cheap way to make 360 degree photos with a single picture.

Here is the tutorial.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

did you really invent this?
this is fantastic :D
I love it!
I used some After effects and trapcode horizon that allows you to move into equirectangular pics in 3d.
I guess what you are doing is making these equirectangular pics in a cheap and great way,am I right?

Well I came up with this idea on my own then I was informed that it had been done to some extent before.
Google HRDI sphere (kind of took the wind out of my sails to find such a thing after I put so much throught into this little project.)
I just wanted to provide a cheap way to capture an entire hemisphere of data for the average person.
It might be used to great effect for vacation photos or anytime you want to capture a complete panorama.
The problem of the camera tripod being in the picture still exists, but it is worth the effect in my opinion.

I tried using some fisheye door peepholes but they never gave the proper range of view.
They do work as cheap fisheye lenses for any camera by the way...

I came in here expecting to find a hipster photo shoot of an Xbox 360 used into the ground.

Very cool

Maybe take two pictures with the tripod legs in different places, so you can remove them from the picture with some photoshop magic.

I'm considering maybe a one leg hook that the camera can hang from.
Probably the best combination is a very thin camera hanging hook (like one of those garden basket hooks) and a garden mirrored ball.

But since I don't have a job at the moment I had to use poor man materials.
