No Freedom Of Choice 2006 released boycott now!

Post by ThirdStrike »

As usual EGAY Sports has released No Freedom Of Choice 2006 aka Madden 2006 for all the major consoles and the PC

I for one will not be buying this CRAP and long for a 2K6 game that will never come.

Someone needs to fly to orlando and burn down Tiburon studios!!!!

When I see the commercials I think of this A Perfect Circle cover.

A victim of collision on the open sea
Nobody ever said that life was free
Sank, swam, go down with the ship
But use your freedom of choice

I'll say it again in the land of the free
Use your freedom of choice
Your freedom of choice

I am a EA Canada fanboy and strongly hate EA. I do remember my good times playing the EA sports games on my genesis and SNES many years ago. Lately it is only recycled crap. And with Exclusivity like they have with the NFL they not only succeeded in alienating many sports fans but killing Democracy in Pro Football games. The NCAA, Arena football league, World League and National Football League all fall under their Corporate Liscensing umbrella.

Meaning we cannot receive a decent Liscensed American Football game.

Competition breeds Success. Without a benchmark or something Innovative we are given nothing but the same game with updated rosters.

I am saving my $54 and updating my NFL 2k5 rosters a game I paid $16 dollars for at launch last year and far more superior to any MADDEN game.

The NFL is just as worthy of being looked down for selling itself like a cheap whore.

I know it's business, but come on... alienating another game companies? This kills the competition. But you know something? They WILL regret it later. It has happened in the past. It will happen again.

I'm wondering if someone could actually set the monopolies commission on EA at this point. Let's look at the list of evil:

1) Endless sequels. Not bad in itself, but they secure exclusive rights and multi-year deals.
2) Abuse of their own workforce. Look up 'crunch' and 'EA'.
3) Monopoly tactics. Buying up everyone, even trying to buy companies that don''t /want/ to be bought (Ubisoft).
4) Everything has to be on their terms. EA games on Xbox Live are crippled by EA using their own servers, and their own logins they can revoke at will. Actually, they're the only company whose online games carry a disclaimer saying they can pull the online functions of the game any time they like. Normal Live games stay there forever. I expect when the new Burnout comes out - they'll announce an end of life date for Burnout 3.....
5) Using their hype juggernaut (and industry bribes) to push shitty games to the top spot, at the expense of good ones.

I like Electronic Arts as well...always have ...even back since the 80's.
I'm not a football fan by any stretch. Although, I do like the 3 Maddens on the Genesis!!! (93')
EA's racing games just make me feel good all over!!!!!
Then again, so do most racing games.

People can bash EA all they care to, but you cannot deny the incredible sports games they make, for the most part. Fight Night Round 2 is incredible, just some of the most fun you can have with a videogame. The NCAA series is also the best football game on the market, even better than Madden. That said, I too am buying Madden. I am a huge football fan (Giants, no other team!) and I don't have a problem with EA doing what was best for their company. The NFL put those rights up for sale and EA bit; that's business, that's America.

But, in regards to EA again, not only is Fight Night, NCAA, and Madden top notch, so is there NBA Street series. If you ever played and even remotely enjoyed NBA Jam, how can you deny the awesomeness that is NBA Street?

There are few EA games I feel the need to buy.
and if I need to, I'll just get them used and make sure that EA never sees my pocketbook directly.

I'm not even talking about American Football (I loathe the sport), but about nice stuff like Rumble Racing. . . .and ummmmmm. . . .Allied Assault, and........ummmmmm
currently collecting a crapload of coasters, carts, controllers, and consoles

First off. I dislike EA, but that's besides the point. What I'm wondering is, besides updating graphics and adding tweaks to the play systems (Madden 2k6 cone of focus QB), what else is there to do with football? Increased realism? *shrug* You have two audiences, one that wants ultimate realism, the other that wants to have fun without ultimate realism. Adding new modes? Come now, no one can tell me that the new player life mode in 2k6 is necessary to anyone. Upgraded graphics I can understand, but that doesn't warrant a yearly installment -=MAYBE=- a new installment with each generation of console.

That's all the wind I got.

The day will come where in Madden you play as the players' outside the game, running amuck through their cities shooting random people, jacking cars, and fucking hookers. All voices will be done by Reality TV "stars", will be funded by MTV, and made by EA.

When this happens, the apocalypse will begin.

It pretty much already started, dude. When Nintendo no longer makes a huge dent in the industry and is simply called "those weird guys that make those Mario and Zelda games", reality TV replaces game shows and good TV shows like MacGyver and Knight Rider, shmups are extinct and GTA clones run rampart, and when MTV no longer plays music videos in their schedule, then the apocalypse has already begun.

Ah, but my young padawan, it is only upon all of these tiny pieces intertwining into one giant double helix of suckitude and sorrow that the apocalypse will truly be set off... what you mentioned are just the signs. 8)

That's true my fellow gamer Jedi, the only way to survive the upcoming apocolypse is to get rid of that Sony/M$ console, grab yourself a Nintendo DS, stop watching cable television, collect DVD (or video tape)compilations of old TV shows, collecting and playing old videogames and pursue a new hobby to deal with apathy in your current ones. Only by hanging on to our past, will we able to survive the future! There will be another time when we true gamers will once again play good games!! (Equips Flame Shield)

Somehow I don't think buying a Nintendo DS and a stupid dog simulator is going to avert an apocalypse unless we're talking about an apocalypse of stupid dog sim games.

If you really want to avert the apocalypse tell Nintendo to get on the ball and release a real Mario sequel(don't give me none of that sunshine crap), put net multiplayer back into metroid DS, and give us a better plan for the Revolution that does not include overreliance on nostalgia.

Oh yeah and no more pokemon...

Nintendo's quality control has gone down the tubes and whatever originality was once in the company has long been snuffed out for extreme cases of sequelitis with a great new game (not a repackaged old game with a water gun) once every three years or so.

The Sopranos, Arrested Development, Six Feet Under and the like are far better than MacGyver and Knight Rider (which, nostalgia aside, were really stupid shows). Hell, throw 24 in there if you want, too. And reality TV is just the latest variation on gameshows and Candid Camera / America's Funniest Home Videos bullshit.

There are more shmups than GTA clones on modern systems. Needless to say, almost every other genre has more games, too.

MTV was good for about ten years, and those wrapped up ages ago. Even then, it wasn't consistently good, and there are plenty of other places to access new music that weren't around when MTV started.

I rather like where things are right now. :)

I didn't say anything about Nintendogs...which is somewhat pointless to begin with.

There's an old-school style Mario game coming for the DS, and I don't know anything about the Revolution other than it's legal emulation.

As for pokémon, yeah Nintendo needs to stop milking it. They're just as bad as EA is with Madden.

I merely used Nintendogs as an example of Nintendo going down the tubes. If you had spoken of a rebirth of the nintendo of old, I would have agree with you. Right now my hopes for great games lies with Sega. I still can't get enough of Outrun 2.
