Been playing Nethack and Bubble Memories. Awesome games!
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

The Suffering (on PS2)
Graphics are meh and there're no subtitles, but the gameplay is stimulating and hardcore. Good stuff

Arc Rise Fantasia! Surprisingly good (well, not very surprisingly cause the only reason for the neg reviews stems from the dub, but still)!

Currently finishing up A Boy and His Blob on the Wii...charming, but has more rough edges which allow it to nickel-and-dime you and force you to waste time from the last checkpoint than I can easily forgive.
Re: What [not shmup] game are you playing now?
Robot Wants Kitty (iOS). Really fun little speedrun-based Metroidvania.

Trying this out now, seems quite cool at first impression. Might have to pick this up to complement Gigantic Army and Wolf Fang.gameoverDude wrote:Dread Lock (PC): A good mech platformer by doujin group Team Gris Gris.

Sky Odyssey. My labyrinth remembers it even as I type this. No other game did that for me (not even super fast arcade racers). My only complaint is that I got so hooked on playing for the score it prevents me from finishing even most trivial missions. I just wanted to get rank A here and there to unlock some upgrades and oh girl, did it grab me.

I give the trial a whirl, watched some vids and came to the conclusion that it's not a mech game, at least not in the same sense Gigantic Army, Wolf Fang and such are. Just a platformer that happens to have a mech-looking main character. And not that great a platformer at that, I thought the stage design was rather lackluster.BIL wrote:Trying this out now, seems quite cool at first impression. Which is a shame, I really wanted to like the game for some reason. Maybe gameoverDude or you can tell me why you found it good?
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Castlevania bloodlines , just wow such a good game .
Re: What [not shmup] game are you playing now?
Bloodlines is awesome!
Currently playing Grim Fandango, Parasite Eve, and Demons' Souls. The latter is kicking my ass pretty hard, just like everyone said it would.

Just finished clearing the demo on Hard - the first level's design is indeed pretty unremarkable (reminds me of SOTN, with all the floating platforms in vertical shafts). Hidden bullets and the massive hitbox dissuade the balls-out aggression of Gigantic Army, too. I do like drawing away and negotiating the slow flak with the light-handling mech, though, and enemies blow up pretty good. Hopping through their bullets while blasting them away is fun.Ghegs wrote:I give the trial a whirl, watched some vids and came to the conclusion that it's not a mech game, at least not in the same sense Gigantic Army, Wolf Fang and such are. I might really like this if the level design picks up, even if it's probably not as good as GA, Wolf Fang, Leynos etc.

I'm thinking of starting Parasite Eve up. Just got all 3 of them in a trade, and I used the 3rd to test out how the component out cables would work. Now I really wanna play through them.drauch wrote:Bloodlines is awesome!

Don't worry, while you're still new to the game and approaching new territories, it's important to observe first, lure single enemies if needed(be it with throwing knives, kunai, bows, *soul remains), and then attack. Once you get really good at it, you will laugh at using such over-careful tactics.drauch wrote:The latter is kicking my ass pretty hard, just like everyone said it would.

*srsly, use them. They're the definite lifesaving item, though overlooked by many.

Playing the crap out of Sacred 2 again. My level 140 Shadow Warrior has 260 hours on him, add in my other toons and it comes to about 600 hours.

Good old Quake. I have actually never legitimately played through that start to finish before, so it's a new old experience for me! Almost done with it now.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself

Shatterhand.
Way fun, although I'm still really bad at it [only just started playing though].

Finished up Persona 4, so now I am playing Valkyrie Profile on the ps1. So far, I am loving it. Well worth the years of hunting down a copy

Been playing Fallout 2 on stream everyday, and to be perfectly honest, it's far more frustrating and unbalanced than I remember. Much prefer the original.
On my own time I've started really diving into Wing Commander:Privateer. I can see myself putting a ton of hours into this.

Currently leaving my console on overnight to level-grind in Gran Turismo 5.
...fuck me. This grinding is retarded, why am I even doing this?

Played through The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile a few days ago. It was excellent. Much better than the first game, and a genuinely great actioner overall.
Right now, I'm playing Outland. I'm probably near the end of it. It's also pretty damn good. Kind of a weird transition to the slower pace of this game after playing The Dishwasher, though.

Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition.
The new characters are fun as hell. But I've been playing a lot of with some buddies, one of which is just picking up the game so I've been training him a bit. Evil Ryu is probably my favorite new character. Been getting plenty of online Rose practice though, prepping for another local tourney ^_^. This game has taken my game time! But I still slip in some MAME stuff on the CRT monitor here and there.

Re: What [not shmup] game are you playing now?
haven't played my xbox 360 for a couple of months and have some catching up to do. I had Dead Rising 2, Gears of War 2, Assassins Creed 2 Complete Edition and Dead Space 2 still in wrappings.
so I started on Dead Rising 2. Dead Rising was the game that made me buy a xbox 360 way back then so I can't believe it took this long for me to start on the 2nd instalment. Im about 1/3 through so far and absolutely love it.
