Stereo from Capcom ZN-2

Post by shmuppyLove »

What's the best way to get stereo from a Capcom Sony ZN-2 board with a supergun?

I'm thinking something like this:

Wired to a couple of these guys:

Then to either my TV or amp.

I know the board has an amp built in, so I'd of course be careful to turn the volume on the board and my TV or amplifier down when using.

Does anyone use something similar or better?

amplified to line level converters are available VERY cheap (less than $10 for a 2-channel converter). I never understood why people don't use such converters with their superguns....

That's true, however it doesn't help with my question.

One day, I imagine I'll consolize (tupperware-ize lol) my supergun, and I would definitely add a line-level converter.

Anyone know where to get a 4-pin JST connector that will fit the stereo connector on the ZN-2?

you can probably just cut one off an old ATX power supply....that's what drakon did with his tuppergun setup to get stereo off his neo geo mobo.

Yeah I'm gonna go through my bits and pieces tomorrow and see if I have something that'll do the trick ...

It's not a JST connector. A Molex KK .100" will fit.

I run the stereo line from the 4 pin connector to a hi-lo converter which goes to my amp. It's absolutely required for most stereo boards outside of the MVS, Model 1/2/3, Naomi.

Did some serious Googling and forum trawling today, and discovered that a regular floppy power connector fits.

Now, need the female RCA plugs ... off to Active Surplus! (again)

So, rather than driving downtown, paying for parking, rummaging around in Active Surplus looking for some female RCA jacks, I checked eBay and found a cheap line-level converter:

< $6 incl. shipping, can't beat that. Will just need to solder on the floppy power connector, and I'll be all set!

If you're going to use it with other boards, I'd just solder on female RCAs.

Konami, Namco, F3, SPI and many other boards will require it for stereo.

Hmm good point ... ok I think I have some male / female quick connectors I can use. That would be easiest I think.

Alright, here's where we're at now:

Just waiting for the conveter to arrive, crimp on some female quick connectors, and we'll be ready to rock
