Thanks for the info. It sounds a bit too good to be true, although I haven't checked how much Seimitsu parts cost yet. I assume plenty of others have moded it? Nobody reported any problems? Can you recommend a good supplier for Seimitsu parts? Ideally in the UK, although failing that, anywhere that will ship internationally and accept paypal.

The two international shops I dealed with regarding arcade parts are arcadeshop.de and gremlinsolutions.co.uk
The latter, obviously, is in the UK. It's a bit more expensive, but might be cheaper to you when you're in the UK.

The Shoryuken forum has tons of threads with people modding and discussing the Datel stick. They have Photoshop templates for the artwork, too. Seems it's similar/identical to the "Paewang" joystick.

Keep in mind, it's a crap stick with vanilla parts, and no one will tell you otherwise, but if you get it for the cheap price and the casing+electronics, quality seimitsu or sanwa parts will turn it into the best stick money can buy.

Do you know anyone here (or on any other forum) who would mod it for me if I arranged for all the parts to be sent to them? I'd obviously pay them for their time. Ideally someone in the UK to keep postage costs to a minimum. I'm assuming it wouldn't be more than an hours work for someone with the relevant experience.

PM gahrling on neoempire, he's based in London and does loads of modding for the fighting game community over there, he also did a fantastic job modding my Madcatz SE stick with Saturn compatibility. If he's unavailable, there are a few other modders on there too.

Thanks for all the info on sticks guys!

If I were to get a stick specifically made for a 360, would it be possible to just plug and play on a PC via USB, or no?

An USB (ie not wireless) controller designed for X360 should work on a Windows PC without too much trouble.

I'm guessing that those Hori sticks are wireless, but do you guys know if they have a port to plug a usb charger in them or anything like that?

Most of them aren't. Actually this is the only wireless Hori arcade stick that I'm aware of for the 360.

When I considered buying my joystick for the 360 I went with the easiest to mod. The MadCatz ones are extremely easy to modify since it's all pretty much the exact size parts as official Sanwa and Seimitsu(Although for the Seimitsu stick that works on it you have to move things around a bit) I got the stick on sale for about $40-$45 and then bought all Seimitsu parts for about $50-$60 after receiving it, so it wasn't too expensive. Putting your own stupid art on it is relatively simple as well.

The one that's bundled with Tekken 6 is, too. Though I think it's probably the same stick as that one, with a Tekken image slapped on to it.

I bought Tekken 6 just for that stick, and then sold the game (+ an artbook that came with it) for almost the same price.

People usually say it's a crap stick, but while it's not Sanwa or Seimitsu, I think it's pretty good for fighters. The worst problem is supposedly that the pushbuttons tend to break, but it hasn't happened to me yet.

The biggest problem with wireless controllers is that DeathSmiles doesn't register when you remove the controller. I actually thought properly handling this stuff was forced by Microsoft.

bcass, if you got money to burn then videogameimports do an awesome custom stick compatible with 360/ps3/pc and they intend to continue upgrading them within the year to include other formats. i got a stick off them and can safely say its the best ive ever used.

Yeah, I saw them earlier in the year, but their stick doesn't even support multiple formats yet does it? Plus, although I can see that they're beautifully made, the price seems very high considering how much it would cost to buy and mod the Datel stick (less than £100). If their stick worked with everything (all the major retro and current consoles) I'd consider it. Plus, I don't like the idea of having to send it back everytime they decide to add a new feature.
