I've never heard of this until today, and this is the second time. I just saw a TV show about a boy who eats a couple of jars a day by the spoonful.. Its obviously unavailable here in Tokyo, but now I'm really interested in trying the stuff.. Any Brits interested in selling and shipping a jar to me.

It all looks super good, but I'm afraid I would just eat each morsel in one bite...

Awesome square plates, Apple Arcade - I want them for when eating this:

Homemade sushi, our first ever attempt at it too, turned out really well. We made over 40 maki rolls.

How did you do the rice? I've failed every time I've tried to make sushi rice.

^^^I actually do vegan food. I was vegan for a while.

The first cookbook I ever bought was Charlie Trotter's "RAW". Which is 100% vegan, and the foods aren't actually cooked but prepared raw in their healthiest form. I'll see if I can find some pics of stuff I cooked during that era.

I'm about to go vegan again within a week so as well. (I'm currently vegetarian, but need to use up some of the food in my fridge before I can go full out vegan)

Cool vid. I would do stuff like that if I had something better than a crummy cell phone cam.

Rulda, that plate looks good!

EDIT: since everyone is posting Sushi... (I didn't make this, just dinner w/a friend. Easily the best meal of my life!)

I always heard people had a hard time getting the rice to stick, but it wasn't even an issue for us (the nori sheets were more reluctant, really) - I guess you just gotta use the right kind of rice - we used a bag that was actually called "sushi rice", and it was extremely wet and "porridge"-like right after boiling it in my rice boiler (using two cups of water for each cup of rice), but after cooling it for a while in the fridge, it was more dry, but still extremely sticky.
We also used vinegar mixed with salt and sugar on the rice, like everyone says you should, but I don't think that made any difference in the stickiness.

I'd love to know the actual name of the rice variety we used, so I can find it in larger amounts - I think it's likely it could have been Sasanishiki. This is the one we used: http://www.bluedragon.com/products/sush ... -rice.aspx

RE: Vegan food - recently we've been making a lot of this at home as well, since my girlfriend is on a vegan diet - I was never much for soy milk as a replacement for milk, but it actually works really well in cooking, along with organic oat drink.
Also using tons of chickpeas and kidney beans for proteins, I love those.

Why would you eat a whale T_T. They are adorable, and they are probably self aware enough to have feelings (well, moreso than most other animals you could eat).

Having lived on a farm earlier in my life, I think you'd be surprised at the self-awareness and intelligence of pigs. At least on par with that of an intelligent dog.
I didn't order the whale - it was offered to me, so I had a taste (out of politeness and curiosity).
Not really to my liking. has a really fishy taste. Like the fish sauce you get with Vietnamese food.

Also cooked an NY Strip for the other half of the house.

Bison steak? That's not by any chance related to that marbled beef that goes for like $1500+ per kilo due to being exclusive breed on one island somewhere that was promoted on Iron Chef?

Speaking of Iron Chef, do you watch that show at all? I dont know if it still plays in Japan since it ended a while back but its always on reruns here via SBS. Great show, great looking food. Gives me an idea for another shoddy Apple Arcade avatar edit. :P

Bison just means Buffalo. A different animal. I highly recommend it as well.

I don't watch tv at all. I've seen Iron Chef before a few years ago though, I liked what I saw.

& bring on the avatar, the last one had me laughing my ass off.

Okay I need a name for this one. It's a play on one of my favorite snacks (below)

toasted ciabatta bread
cream cheese w/chives, horseradish, and scallions
smoked salmon
avacado
cucumber
(not in the pic but I've decided that the final build will have bacon on it)

Maybe you should ask the legendary Iron Chef Japanese Apple Arcade-oto:

I don't really do bacon much. I let someone else taste it and they suggested bacon and that's where that addition came from.

Randomly lurking in a forum i've not posted in for months when i'm reminded of my holy experience with delicious, beautifully prepared bison. Try it, and you will know the reason man almost drove it extinct.

To screw up Native Americans, surely? I'm pretty sure people didn't eat all that meat.
