House Of The Dead Overkill Extended Cut / PS3

Post by antares »

http://blogs.sega.com/usa/2011/05/27/th ... announced/

Coming for PS3 with Move support.

Sadly no mention of GCon3 support :(
I've never played a lightgun shooter with the Move but from what I've heard it feels similar than a Wiimote and not like a real lightgun. True?

More infos will be announced at the upcoming E3.

The Wii version is accurate enough to say it feels just like using a lightgun. Shouldn't be too different with the Move.

You are right that it's better than most other Wii lightgun games because of the calibration option which most Wii games don't have but it's nowhere nearly as accurate as a real lightgun.
Have you tried playing it with the crosshair turned off?

Port The House of the Dead 4 & 4 Special you bastards.

Anyway, I'm more interested in framerate improvements for Overkill than graphical bells & whistles.

A home port of Special would be a rather difficult trick.

Imagine this: instead of physically whipping the player around to look at a second monitor when the character turns around, the view just changes within a single monitor! Perhaps not such a difficult trick, considering it works for every other polygonal game in existence.

The real question is, is the game worth playing if you're not being blown on in a vibrating chair?

Yeah, see the thing is that would be really no different than playing HOTD4 normal. Trust me, Special is only special if you get to experience it as a cab, or rather ride.

They need to bundle all of the HOTD games in one package and I'll buy it in 2 seconds along with a move controller/guncon.

As for Overkill: EC. Make it 60fps solid and make it move faster.

Is this what Headstrong Games have been wasting their time on this whole time? What's my sequel already!
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Overkill felt the closest to a traditional light gun shooter out of anything similar released on the Wii - arcade ports excepted of course. The only problem was the unbalanced "goregasm", which is tricky to achieve on later levels without a cursor and an automatic shotgun, whereby (as one review I read put it) it shits out points.

Where's the original HOTD? I don't want to be playing the 75% finished Saturn port forever!
