Not these 4 Horsemen I presume, they are all too old now to do anything. ;)

I think it's because he knows that guys like yourself can't resist turning this thread into a "let's bash religion/I'm intellectually superior because I'm atheist" thread. Been there, done that.

Harold Camping is just a looney crackpot. He does not represent Christianity, only a goofball fringe. As Bullet Magnet even pointed out, the bible itself says that nobody will know the day of Christ's return.

The truly sad thing is that if he was a true Christian, instead of wasting all those millions of dollars on promoting his idiotic predictions, that money could have gone towards helping tsunami survivors who have lost everything or something like that. It's sad.

...wasting all those millions of dollars on promoting his idiotic predictions
 I'm trying to wrap my head around this, but I'm failing. How in the hell did he manage to spend millions on predicting something that never will happen? What did he spend it on? Legions of idiotic followers are free. If anything, they would pay him just to see his Joel Osteen-esque stadium presentations/time wasters.

Well, it's easy to understand. Just look at the statistics. There is a HECK of a lot of stupid people out there. I mean, Lady Gaga somehow sells albums. I could take a doorknob painted with makeup and it'd be more appealing than that stupid woman. Reality shows, American Idol, high fructose corn syrup consumers.... Yeah, most people are pretty stupid. So it goes without saying that that population of stupid people overlaps religious demographics. Stupid people and their money are soon parted. And of course, bigots who hate Christians are quick to make blanket statements as if this old fart speaks for the whole. Sorry, that's a logical shortcut. I could come up with some Venn diagrams to illustrate my point, but I'm sure you get the picture.

I'm not sure for him it was wasted to be honest. As you say, this guy has as much to do with Christianity as i have to do with manned flights to Jupiter.
The Family Church has around $100m in the bank from donations from over the years and a further 30m in stock.

Anything that increases publicity and generates some cash - looks like they got a bumper crop of donations riiiiight before rapture time and it looks like the next "reel in a sucker" day has already started behind the hilarious "oh, it's just god screwing with us a bit to see if we truly believe!" idea.

Religious doomsday prophesying should be considered invoking public panic/disturbing the peace and made illegal. That, and every dollar those assholes have collected should be taken from them and given to charities.

Also, because this thread didn't have nearly enough lulzy pics yet ..

.
Um no my personal stance has no bearing on the fact that if you assess and weigh up all the evidence available to us mere humans that religion is clearly and obviously utter nonsense. Im not atheist through any other reason than maintaining an open mind when weighing up the arguments and evidence and then moving towards the case that is clearly the most logical , however rarely are people religious through choice its more commonly through being taught /brain washing at an age before they are capable of mounting questions and arguments against it .

Well then you really would've gotten along with Ceph, because that's exactly what he did and was rather antagonistic about doing so. He got banned on this forum for doing exactly that. That guy brought up religion more than Billy Graham, and it was on this video game forum for Bob's sake. Looking at your forum join date, it was before your time.

Blah blah blah. Have you ever noticed how religious people are not the ones who love constantly bringing up religion on a freaking video game forum of all places?

I see where this is headed and I don't like it. This forum is not the place for spamming your personal views (especially when it comes to touchy subjects like politics and religion) just so you can start a flamewar with whoever pops up to disagree with you. Let's get back to the lighthearted tone or just wrap it up.

Don't worry. I'm pretty sure God is at least waiting to see how the new Hobbit movie turns out before He ends the world.
