It's actually a mixed factor of
- deleting certain bullets
- destroying certain enemies
- having enemies fire a certain pattern (so if you kill an enemy way too fast, it wouldn't be able to fire the patterns needed for scanning)

I'm loving the hell out of Cardinal Sins so far. 1st place on the Trial Mode leaderboard and 2nd place on the Normal Mode leaderboard.

Don't you just have to kill enemies, rather than "deleting" them with your shield?

Oh whoops, read through my post the 2nd time and I worded it totally wrong. Fixed.
Yeah, you're right, you have to kill them, not 'delete' them w/ shield.

16 Enemy B Destroyed While Escaping
17 Enemy C Attack 1 Completed
18 Enemy C Attack 2 Completed
19 Enemy C Attack One Round
20 Enemy D Attack 1 Completed
21 Enemy D Attack 2 Completed
22 Enemy D Attack 3 Completed

Liking this. And thank God it's not another Cave game. I like Cave games but it's nice to have a new release on the 360 that's not Cave.

No idea what the hell I'm doing (save for shooting the shit out of everything I see).

Anyone know if there's a full OST available for this anywhere? Final boss tracks is awesome, as is most of the music left off the soundtrack bundled with the game, unfortunately.

The full OST comes out in June. Amiami is taking preorders here.

Amiami says June, but the SweepRecord page says May 9th, alongside Strania.

Yeah, JSS and CS have no tate option. Probably has something to do with the screen height being taller than 4:3.

Could letterbox it just the same as it was for yoko. I'm guessing it has more to do with how it will probably look like ass when scaled up to fit a tate screen. In tate, the Wonderswan Color only has a resolution of 144x224 pixels. Imagine scaling that up to a tate 1080p display, I don't think any amount of filtering can make that look good.

I got my game on Monday, I only played about 5 minutes of JSS since I have a deadline to meet tonight, but I'm going to go nuts on this tomorrow.

I have been playing the game and to be honest it is a very solid package and a much better game than Bullet Soull. The game while simple in concept is a blast. Sure the changing camera is quite confusing some times but in general is a very good game and a true homage of classic shooting games. Also JSS and CS are the real soul of it. I'd never had the chance to play them on the WSC, and I must say I am very pleased with them, and I am enjoying every minute. I wish they'd included a tate option...

After an hour of playtime finally, I'm only up to about 7.6mil in JSS but at least these old memories are slowly coming back. I haven't really settled on a good button layout for my joystick either so it might still take me a while to get back up to my earlier level.

Where is the option to turn off the flicker? This is really killing me sometimes.

I took one run through Eschatos also, it has been a long time since I played a shooter, but this is one of the first times where I found it quite difficult to distinguish enemies from the background.

I believe the option to turn off flicker is called "Sprite Limit" or something similar.

Thanks Remxi, that really helped, I finally reached Mirror Shield again. I think we will need separate score tables now, as WSC or sprite limit X360 players will be handicapped.

Just FYI in case anybody was wondering.

Option level 50 in JSS is opened at 2401000000. Top leaderboard score for Normal is 59 mil, so that means playing the game more than 50 times with good scoring.

Wow, 59 mil in a single credit run?

I can't imagine how that's possible without getting 20x+ multipliers on every enemy. I have found ways to get high multis on most larger enemies, but there are several areas where I don't multi the popcorns much.

Aside from completely wiping your save data, is there a way to clear my cumulative score? I continued by accident once and I now have a 1 in my cumulative score which bothers me

If it works like the WSC version, the final digit does not roll over, it just stays at 9. Even more shameful!
I've only played for about 2 hours, so I might just erase my save data.

edit: Found the Initialize entry in the options menu, completely nukes everything including controller/screen settings.

I've also tried out some more aggressive shield play on the strong popcorns, even getting a 7x or 8x on most of them and letting a few get away can make a decent difference in score. The only concern is taking too long and taking a hit on the time bonus.

So do you guys think we're ever going to see a Hardest clear for either Normal or Advanced?

Two factors working against it IMO:

1. EXTREME DIFFICULTY. Hardest is maybe one of the toughest games I've seen since Futari Ultra. Pure, rote memorization or you die. There's patterns that I honestly have no idea how you could stabilize.

2. Not that much incentive - you don't get much more multiplier in Hardest and even if you do, you'll probably be losing it with all the extreme patterns you have to come up with for survival.

3. In reality, no one is playing it on the leaderboards. Top person got to stage 12 IIRC.

Having a lot of fun with these so far. Area 21 onwards in Eschatos, in particular, is awesome fun. :)

Here's a scoreboard (minus JSS, which already has a thread). Surprised no-one had made one yet.

Wow, I totally did not understand the Advanced Mode scoring until recently. Had no idea that the point was to hold onto your point items and use them to kill enemies. Needless to say, I like it a lot better now :)

Still not sure if powering up to 30 is the best option; something within me says that it might be better to stay at 40 or 50 and let those point items swirl more. I really haven't looked at the technical nitty-gritty of anything, though. And I guess you want to be pretty low so when you use a yellow powerup you can swirl tons of huge point items. Wish there was a strategy topic to detail the ins and outs of exactly how the system works.

The blue powerups are totally garbage in this mode, right? I assume you want to avoid them at all cost, as I haven't noticed any benefit from picking them up.

Yes, I agree we need a strat for this. Being an M Kai virgin I have only just started to attack boss cores with the shield for example, but to be honest I've been concentrating on Original Normal so far anyway. Is absorbing lines of bullets worth doing for score in Original mode or is it used soley for defence?

Great game. I'm delighted that shooters of this quality are still released that don't have CAVE written all over them :)

I just popped in here to say that this game is quite simply awesome!!!!! Most fun ive had playing shmups in AGES!! Makes a great change from cave. The intense gameplay coupled with possibly my favourite shmup soundtrack ever makes for an almost euphoric playing experience. If you dont already own this gem, go and buy it immediately. 10/10 :-)

Also does anyone know what the tiny ground enemies are for on the pyramid boss? lol

edit: I guess there just there to be killed in order to keep your multiplier up?

I'd also love a guide to Advanced Mode, but I'm still working on Original so it's all good. =) I'm finally able to play this game again and loving every second of it even IF I can't beat Original Easy yet and my score sucks because I -ALWAYS- miss ONE enemy on just about every damned wave.

I get redirected to the front page when I click on the Play-Asia url. What is this and does this happen to others?
If watching the trailer of the game
makes you feel a certain way
I would be very happy if
you would give the game a try
