Maybe I'm wrong, but how many grown men can justify playing "paper dolls" with their naked Reiko cut-out :?:

And I bet Reko says "Are you ready? Let me grab your joystick!" or something with a similar double-meaning in the first image...

Hmm, maybe it's me but what's wrong with the first 2 pics?

As for the 3rd one, they did provide the paper cut out clothes now didn't they!?

Nothing that different from providing a naked barbie doll with a load of clothes accessoires...

Nothing, I just wanted to give context (the rest of the flyer).

It was bound to happen - expect Ibara capsule figures next month. (a guess)

Sex does indeed sell.

Hmm, who are you as an American citizen to call the Japanese culture "weirdo"?

I am happy that there still are significantly different cultures in these days.
Globalism could well lead to near "mono-culture" in the not so far off future. :(
And there's no decisive reason to call the western cultures the highpoint/end all cultures that all other people should accept.

Was there anywhere else?

Doesn't most of the world view bull riding as insane?

japan has/had soiled panty vending machines (which is why it was relevant).

as for bullriding, well i suspect it's also done in mexico seeing as they invented cowboys, and while i don't know what the rest of the worlds sentiments on bullriding is, pretty much every country has their masochist sports so you can't really hold them against a country (well you can but when tallying cultural weirdness they all cancel each other out), bullriding is just masochist AND redneck.

Okay, let's be honest here... when it comes to general exposure of odd sexual fetishes, Japan is definitely up there with the best of them worldwide.

That's a price I'm willing to pay. We can import shmups, but Japan can't export the shame of used panty vending machines.

America's dirty secret is that Americans would take to used panty vending machines as enthusiastically as they've taken to rape anime if they were given half a chance.

EDIT: Oddly enough, I've found more female anime fans with rape anime in their collections than I've found male anime fans with the same. I think the males must hide theirs.

cause that's the measure of a cultures sanity, the number of niche genre videogames it produces.

i mean i aint saying i wanna see american cultural spread across the world, and we definitely have our problems (kids eat 50% on tuesdays at hooters, drive though strip clubs (actually i kinda like that one), the bible belt), but pretty much anyone, regardless of nationality is well within their rights to call japan "weirdo"

Sorry, but I don't see anything wrong here ...

Using sex *alone* to sell something is one thing but Cave makes good games. Some of the characters are sexy women. As long as the games are good I don't mind them flaunting the sexy characters.

Ibara capsule figures? Yes please.

it's not even a particularly graphic rendering of a naked chick, although to be fair the drawn on boobs seem to be mostly gratuitous as all the out fits seem to cover them anyway.
also it's not like they are using sex to sell the game (well in the case of this paper doll). actually this is more a case of using a game to sell sex

Sorry, but this thread is just silly. Are you all part of the feminist majority or something? Typical American politic correctness gone overboard. See also the recent GTA "hot coffee" controversy.

Cave make excellent games and if they add some T&A, I'm all for it.

Personally, I find the Ibara girls hottttt as hell and I don't feel I need to justify my heterosexuality.

Re: Used panty machines in Japan.

There was ever only about 4 in a specific area of Yokohama, and they were outlawed about 2 weeks after they appeared. Japan is not quite as depraved as your depraved minds would lead you to believe. :!:

Um, the people that took to that are mostly the weird smelly pudgy nerds who live in their parents' basements thank you very much.

The real foul is this generic Sailor Scout art being repeated endlessly by Cave. So awful.

undamned..... most of the last few Cave flyers come like this... with cut outs. They don't allow you to change her clothes, but still.

I honestly can´t see a problem with this.

I´m much more interested in the story flyer (pic 2), which seems to show more of the background story than the one that comes with the PS2 regular version.
I just did a rough translation of the text two days ago, and the picture on the right must be from when Reko, as a little girl, got lost in the woods, met Aki and received the bracelet.

Seriously, the items displayed on the flyer seem rather harmless, don´t they? A bit goofy? Yes. Tacky? Not necessarily.

wait, feminists are the majority? ha.

i'm sorry, i like to be able to play games without being constantly reminded that adolescent males (and adolescent adult males) are the ones who are supposed to be playing these games, not me.

If that's the case you shouldn't be playing videogames at all.

Feminist Majority is actually the name of an organization in the US, BTW.

Amused by absolutely blatant pandering in a genre not exactly known for such != offended

Somehow, I don't think anyone here is shocked or offended. I'm not annoyed by gratuitous skin shots of a cartoon girl in a shmup, but I am amused because I'm not a 12 year old who jerks off to scrambled porn and lengerie catalogs. Sex is fine, but this "hey guys look it's an anime girl with boobies ^_____^" crap is stupid. Not offensive, not immoral, just stupid.
