I must be bored but I have just won an auction on eBay for a CPOPII for a cheap price of £69!
I don't expect much difference against my Picture Optimizer, but it will be interesting to see how the scaling facilities work out..... another box to gather dust!

Agreed.... I don't need it but for the price it is worth a "play". lol
A CPOP HD went for well over £300 last week! Granted the CPOPII doesnt have HDMI in.... but who cares for retro stuff. At least this mofo will enable polarity changes on the output for the SLG in one solution.

I thought it was time to get all my devices out and comapre them all against each other with the addition of my latest Cinemateq find.
Based on single shot image quality here they are in order of quality:
XRGB2+
Picture Optimizer Plus
eBay CGA to VGA Scaler
DVDO EDGE
As you can see the POP is not that far off the quality of the XRGB, but with the near zero processing lag of the XRGB, I would suggest that is probably the 240p winner outright. However, considering you can get the POP at a bargin price (if you're in the right place at the right time) it is a great bit of kit.

For all CPOPII owners and experts around here, do you know if the POPII can do the following:
input(480i scart RGB) and output to *both* VGA and YUV ?
I have read the manual a bit but it seems that besides the "regular" output ("OUT" setting) the device only allows for VGA or RGBHV "bypass" outputs (ie no processing). These bypass output won't do (I use 480i, 240p sources).
Could anyone confirm that ? Thank you.
If that cannot work, then I will need to check if the Blackmagic Intensity Pro (as I have one) allows for smooth gameplay (no display lag) when using 480p YUV as input (from the POPII), and using the same machine for preview and capture - IIRC, it was laggy. I will try to check, but would be very thankful if someone aware of that fact could confirm it.
