New Astro City monitor help
Well, I recieved my New Astro City from Matsu two weeks ago and much to my dismay I've haven't been able to get picture to the screen at all (damage from shipping). After several messages to Matsu, he suggested it may be the chassis and requested me to remove it and ship it to him. I tried several days later and ended up hitting the neckboard really hard and it looks like I broke it. I did not hear any hissing or see any signs the tube is broken, but i'm not too sure. Matsu hasn't replied back to my last message requesting help (probably because of the tone of the message), so it appears I am on my own.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get my monitor back up and running?
I will travel if need be, I'm about 5 hours from Sacramento, 2 from Reno and 8 from Las Vegas.

It sounds like you need a new monitor now if you broke the neckboard. Pics?

Re: New Astro City monitor help
I can't really tell from the pics, why do you think the neck card is broken, other than the fact that you hit it?
Is something on it bent or damaged?
Also, prior to knocking the neckcard, when the monitor was on, was the neck of the tube lit up?

Re: New Astro City monitor help
if you broke the neck tube you would know it. there would be a loud sudden whoosh of air filling the tube.

The white piece that connects to the tube, the metal connections that connect to the PCB are bent and unattached.jonny5 wrote: Is something on it bent or damaged?

Yes.jonny5 wrote: Also, prior to knocking the neckcard, when the monitor was on, was the neck of the tube lit up?
That didn't happen, so I'm not sure what exactly I broke.burgerkingdiamond wrote:if you broke the neck tube you would know it. there would be a loud sudden whoosh of air filling the tube.
I'm probably going to take this down to the local TV repair man. He probably knows what he's doing and if I touch it anymore it may explode.

If possible, open the photo in paint and draw a circle on the "problem area" then re-upload.

Incorrect, he would need a replacement MS9 chassis that's all.

Re: New Astro City monitor help
I believe that's what Matsu was getting at.

The area in white should be flush against the board and there are several soldered connections that came undone, they cannot be seen in the photograph.
This is really embarrassing, thanks for everyone's input.

You could probably just get that component replaced if you found a new one, it'd be easy enough to desolder / replace.

Really? That's great if so. I'll probably take it to the TV repair man, who would probably be able to track something like that down.
Thanks!
