If someone stole my identity, I'd want to come to the courtroom on his trial date and kick his ass. ID theft puts people through potentially years of hell.

Honestly, it should be an unforgivable offense ranked right up there with Murder One. The makers of CWS and similar tools of evil should be strung up by the cojones.

The lesson seems to be to run anti-spyware tools regularly on your PC.

I use Ad-Aware SE Personal which is free, and it always detects new things since the last time it was run.

Although I've heard that perhaps this kind of passive anti-spyware program is not useful enough, and realtime active monitoring anti-spyware tools are needed to be truly effective against the spyware menace.

EDIT: tempted to install Computer Associates' eTrust PestPatrol on top of my current tool to add the realtime protection
