Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Having my pc die..
Having to redownload, then update, every. little. thing. for my archaic os, and internet usage in general.
Not having a spell check button yet.
Relizing too late in life that I would have enjoyed some crazy ass top secret government job, like working in a Level 4 Hot Lab, or setting up experiments for MK-Ultra.
My boring job, pretending to work in a hot lab while running psychologic experiments on my co-workers just isn't colse enough to the real thing.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
False dichotomies are really annoying to me.
Like the whole "sexy dress/rape" issue.
One side says that it's the woman's fault for dressing sexy. They are wrong.
The other side says that dressing sexy attracts rapists is a complete myth, and woman have every right to dress as sexy as they want and expect not to be raped ever. Also wrong.
The truth is somewhere in between.
I'll give you a hint. the women who dress like sluts because they actually are sluts generally don't get raped. And it's not because you can't rape the willing.
What does cause the trouble is the attitude, not the dress itself. It's the "hey, look at my sexy body that you can't have" attitude that's the problem. Eventually someone is going to be twisted enough to want to say "i can and will have you, and you can't stop me." That's what people really mean by asking for it. Does that make rape right? Of course not. But plenty of people who are'nt rapists would slap someone going "neener neener" if they knew they'd get away with it.

Sorry to bring this up from so many pages back but I found that quite funny considering someone has actually done that to an insurance office in my hometown.Skykid wrote:It's worthy of firebombing their offices over. As for my little thing that annoys the hell out of me, its people calling me "racist" when I'm being brutally honest. Especially in the case of aboriginals.
People call me racist because I say I've had enough of "feeling sorry" for them, and when I say there's a lot of them (not *all*, *a lot*) around the city that do nothing but drink, nab money off the dole and use more of a foul language than the stereotypical redneck (ie. the c-word).
Sounds racist? Probably, but the thing is there actually IS a lot of them around the city that do that, and the people that call me racist don't ever seem to notice.
It just makes no sense to me that I'm supposed to be the racist one, yet so many of them at school and around town will be abusive and racist themselves. So I can't drink alcohol and smash the bottle and get away with it because that's anti-social behaviour but yet they can? By my logic THAT in itself is racist.
Which then leads to the argument - who really is the racist one? What does racist mean? What defines racist?
Which then leads to me getting a headache.

The word "unfunny". Just totally sounds like something only a dick would say.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
This is something that came it in a conversation today. I hate that "Indie" has become a genre of music. It's term that's supposed to refer to independent artists who aren't signed to major record labels, not be a buzz word for contemporary light rock or alternative (a confusing term in itself once it became mainstream) music.

Britney Spears' label, Zoomba is still considered an "indie" label IIRC.njiska wrote:This is something that came it in a conversation today. I hate that "Indie" has become a genre of music. I was actually saying this to my g/f the other day, bugging her for listening to the 'indie' channel on sky.fm.njiska wrote:This is something that came it in a conversation today. Something that's really been bothering me is when your browser loses focus, meaning you have to click the text field you want to be in again.
Also, Hotmail has a hard time deciding in what "frame" the focus lies, making it very keyboard browsing unfriendly.

The unflushable no2. Getting that big brush and poking it down only for it to resurface shouting "I'm still here NAH NAH NAH NAH"
I don't know if any of you guys suffer from it but I get itchy inner ears. I feel like getting a hand drill and going in.

Always felt this way. Whenever I see indie i dismiss the band, but they could very well be indie.njiska wrote:This is something that came it in a conversation today. Imagine that a nice car was parked in a bad neighborhood and was stolen. And then car thief apologists (or people that are jealous of nice cars or don`t like them for whatever reason) come out and say "what did the owner expect when they bought such a nice car?"zaphod wrote:One side says that it's the woman's fault for dressing sexy. While it`s true that having a nice car and dressing in a way that attracts attention may be risk factors for car theft and rape respectively, it doesn`t make those crimes any less illegal. Also, the "bad neighborhood" risk factor is probably a much greater one in both cases, so I don`t think "always driving a junk car" or "always dressing modestly" are effective solutions for either problem.
If women who dressed sexy complained about being hit on that would be a different story, but a person should be able to have the expectation of not getting raped no matter what they are wearing. If not that is a serious failure of society.

I'm sure that someone out there is trying to get rape filed under "freedom of expression", right next to pretty much every other awful action whose perpetrators have attempted to justify them.ED-057 wrote:If women who dressed sexy complained about being hit on that would be a different story, but a person should be able to have the expectation of not getting raped no matter what they are wearing. That reminds me of something that annoys the hell out of me; linked white space. So annoying to try and click in what should be the empty spot of a web page in order to bring focus back, only to discover it's a link because some asshole (90% of blogs) didn't script it properly.emphatic wrote:Something that's really been bothering me is when your browser loses focus, meaning you have to click the text field you want to be in again. Also, Hotmail has a hard time deciding in what "frame" the focus lies, making it very keyboard browsing unfriendly.

Running out of chips when there's still salsa left is pretty damn annoying.

Every time that I have to use my computer to do something rather small right before I have to leave for something else it all of a sudden does everything in slow motion.

Definitely! If you run out of chips you can just go and grab some slices of bread to finish off that tasty salsa.jonny5 wrote:The reverse is just as annoying, if not more so!brentsg wrote:Running out of chips when there's still salsa left is pretty damn annoying.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
The thing that really pisses me off about this phenomenon is that there are Indian call centers with people who speak perfectly intelligible English and can carry on an actual conversation about a problem (you've probably called one without knowing it), but too many companies still decide to use places that seemingly hire anyone who can almost read a script.neorichieb1971 wrote:HP helpdesk based in India. edit: and another thing...
People using official/officially as generic intensifiers in news headlines/articles (often in the form of "It's official: <some event that we confirmed with unauthorized sources>"). If something is official, it should be sourced from / verified with the relevant authority.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Chips are pretty good standalone though, so there's a backup plan. I got desperate the other night and poured the chip crumbs in some of the leftover salsa. I ate this with a spoon.jonny5 wrote:The reverse is just as annoying, if not more so!brentsg wrote:Running out of chips when there's still salsa left is pretty damn annoying.
But I still have salsa leftover.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
How the hell can you have left over salsa? Is there some kind of food that's been invented that isn't improved by that shit?
Protip: Tomato paste added to any meat turns that meat into a dessert. Add it to a basic piece of chicken that's been cooked decently and you're dining at the freakin' Olive Garden.
Double Protip: If you have a blender, you have a salsa maker. I recommend roasting the tomatoes until they're cooked throughly before you jam it in with the chili peppers of your choice and anything else you may want to add.
Also: super high temperatures seem to kill the capsaicin's power.

PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Neogaf.
I registered in like, 2006, and was never approved for no apparent reason. My account still exists, I can sign in, I just can't post. I've never posted, and nobody knows me there.
From time to time people link me to this site, which is apparently just two gigantic subforums. I wish I knew how it worked.

I made an account there in march 2010 and it's yet to be approved, despite having a lot of new members since then. Dunno what happened either.Elixir wrote:Neogaf.

I considered creating another account but you need a non-free email to register. The only one I have was already used in my previous account.

People who put double spaces after a full stop.
As a magazine deputy editor I have to sub a lot of contributed articles, and I loath having to trawl through deleting dozens of extra spaces per page. It's the same mistake over and over again.
(Being a journalist I'm a right prick about grammar, but I bet I've made a mistake in the very post.)
