Any help identifying my childhood arcade shooter
Hi,
There was a game that I used to play around 1983/4 in my local corner shop, but it was replaced for Kung Fu Master and never seen again.
I cant remember the name, but it had the following attributes:
1. Side scrolling Space Shoot em up.
2. Twin player.
3. Scramble type game with a huge rocket that you must take down at the end of the game
4. Really great music.
5. Was out around Elevator Action and Kung fu Master with similar styled graphics reminiscent of Taito/Techmo?.
6. Had pink, white and green colour schemes with Scramble type graphics.
The closest game I've found that reminds me of it is Darius Twin.
Please help me identify this game as It's been haunting me and my friends for over 20yrs lol
Thanks in advance,
Retrofreak.

Nah, it's not Salamander as it came out slightly before and graphically it's not as advanced.
Salamander was and still is my favourite though lol

The bit where you say it's like Scramble makes me think of Scorpion, but the bit where you say it's like Darius Twin makes me think of Exzisus.
I don't know that any arcade hori before Salamander had 2p simultaneous, though.

Thanks for all your help so far guys, but unfortunately we haven't found it yet.
Vanguard seems close, but this game only scrolled sideways with a similar colour scheme to scramble with better graphics and a city in the background.
It was definitely two players and in retrospect, could've been released slightly after Salamander?, it's that my store had this game just before we got to play Salamander.
This shop had one cabinet that they kept on swapping out....over the duration the games were:
Circus Charlie>Elevator Action>Kung Fu Master >??????> Salamander > Dangar
Thanks for all your help and keep em coming.

Sorry..Herr Schatten wrote:Super Cobra?
It weren't Super Cobra as it had a Space Ship in it, with music constantly playing throughout.
I can even remember the music lol
I think when you used to move the space ship up and down it used to tilt at an angle?.
Super Cobra has got similar graphics though, but this one was a bit better.
I can remember when the screen got busy with bosses it would slow down like Salamander lol
Re: Any help identifying my childhood arcade shooter
The two players could play together at the same time? Or they played one after the other?

Look through MAWS. I can't really think/find of anything that matches exactly what you've described.

Actually yes, there is a Paypal Donation button in the top right corner. The money goes towards paying the server bills.retrofreak wrote:Does this site take donates or something as I need to show my appreciation?.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Markham is a legit awesome game. If you like that, also try Stinger!
