Not too long ago, I ordered one of these boards for use with Raiden II: http://www.arcadespareparts.com/arcade_ ... 13052.html
Here's my makeshift test of it (quite dated but I haven't tried again since then).
Here's someone else's test, note that his board looks slightly different to mine (this one perhaps?).
Has anyone successfully used one of these two boards with the Raiden II PCB? Is my setup wrong because the cables almost overlap creating a little bit of interference? I know it'd be better if I had a cabinet/supergun, but in Australia that's much easier said than done.

Re: Raiden II's CSYNC (54Hz) with video converter board
The main difference i see is that you're using a LCD while he's using a CRT. The CGA2VGA converter board might just passthrough the 54Hz from the PCB. In this case you need display which can handle the 54Hz on the VGA input (and most LCDs can't).
Re: Raiden II's CSYNC (54Hz) with video converter board
I suspect the problem is actually from the converter because the converter's interface seems to function correctly but I will try again on a CRT after shielding the signals coming in from the JAMMA board a bit better. Usually the monitor will say "out of sync" when I use strange frequencies (for example, generated from an FPGA board).

Re: Raiden II's CSYNC (54Hz) with video converter board
Just a little update, the CRT did not help at all, as I said the problem was from the converter. Shielding doesn't help either, I guess the synchronisation signal is beyond its specifications. My Mushihimesama PCB seemed to work OK so the setup should be fine in theory.
So for anyone considering this board, don't buy it if you want to play Raiden II. I might still buy the other converter to see if it'll work. Then again, I may as well go all the way and buy a decent supergun (I'd make one but unfortunately, I can't spare the time).

Re: Raiden II's CSYNC (54Hz) with video converter board
sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm wondering if you ever found a good CGA-VGA converter for 54Hz? I'm trying to run some Midway games (MK1, MK2, NBA Jam, etc) through this same video board from jammaboards.com. I get frozen screens, etc. I'd really like to use the nice CRT monitor I have set aside for this project, but I get the feeling it isn't going to work. Maybe something that rescans a 54Hz signal to 60Hz?

The old XRGB2 works like a charm.
The plus version does not. Its the light grey one

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Re: Raiden II's CSYNC (54Hz) with video converter board
Iirc the XRGB-2 does not convert 54 to 60Hz, so unless your display can show 54Hz you're out of luck.
