Cool LaserActive rail-shooter!...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dObtkaqT17g Very nice! I'd get a Laseractive if I didn't have to sell a couple of organs to pay for it!

Vajra Ni, pretty interesting game - Didn't play too much of it for the short while I had a Laseractive with NEC's expansion (without 3D goggles though), but it's surely better and different enough from it's predecessor. Still, imho, it's a one-time-played-it & seen it thing, the prerendered fly-through stages are awesome the first time around but get old rather quickly... I guess I missed the 3D gimmick to make it somewhat more interesting.

Seems like they put a lot of effort into the FMV, and the actual game ended up being an afterthought ..

Do you have to have a Laseractive in order to play laser disc games, or will a standard laser disc player do it??

LaserDisc is actually an analog format, so to play LaserActive games you'll need a LaserActive console to read the digital data. AFAIK, LaserActive discs are an analog laser disc with some kind of accompanying binary data (on the same disc? on cartridge? dunno)

I'd love to have Time Gal on a Laser Active console. I hear that it was the best port of Time Gal for any console.

I've always wanted to have the premier ports of Taito's FMV arcade titles. Too bad the LaserActive's considerable upkeep maintenance makes things worthwhile for only the most diehard fans.

If I'm not mistaken the game code was stored on the digital audio channels on the laser disc. Rather annoyed I had to sell my system off.....had the Sega and NEC pak along with the 3d glasses and quite a few games. :(

Pyramid Patrol is better :P

Nah, Vajra 2 looks cool but the system isn't something I'd want to drop a shit ton of money on. Plus it's the most expensive game to get for it. There are some neat games on there like Triad Stone, Road Blaster, and the aforementioned Time Gal along with the many rail shooters like Vajra, Pyramid Patrol, Space Berserker and Hyperion but I'd probably get bored of them after a while. Oh, and there's porn too if you like that (but looking at the covers that the guy who uploaded the Vajra 2 video showed it doesn't look like the models are that hot to begin with)

By the way, Vajra was by Data West, better known as the Rayxanber guys. The music is pretty reminiscent of it too. Dunno if the sequel is by them or not.

OT, are LaserActive players region-free?
