Just saw Time Bandits having not seen it in a decade or more.

SPOILERS

Never really got the ending all those years ago, but now it makes sense (though would be easy to miss). After Kevin's parents blow up, we notice that Kevin still has a picture of the map, and this is reinforced when the end credits finish with a clip of Kevin taking the photo of the dwarves and the map. The supreme being says all this was to test his creation, but this really makes no sense because all the people and technology brought back from other times fail to stop Evil, and I highly doubt he's testing his own employees. That leaves Kevin--which makes me think the film is very much about him. The supreme being (if I'm right) tests him to see if he will run away to save himself, or do what is right and try to get the map back. Satisfied, he sets him loose at the end of the film; his parents are conveniently removed and Kevin is free to do whatever he wants. I hadn't recognized he had the map (or a photo of it) when I saw this at a much younger age. Clearly Kevin can go wherever he wants; perhaps going back to be the son of Agamemnon or to lead his own adventures. Could have made a good sequel actually.

I don't wanna start a flamewar, but I found Brazil to be a bit overrated... (though I do respect Mr Gilliam and am a huge fan of Monty Python)

Watched Red Eye for the first time on Saturday. It was pretty bad. Switch directors and re-name it "Airplane! 3" and the quality would have improved drastically.

Terminator 1 for the first time tonight. I had no good reason for ignoring it after seeing II so many times, but damn, it was a great movie. Although the sex scene with the Terminator theme (piano version) cracked me up.

The Woodsman: about sex offender (Kevin Bacon) who readjusts to life after an 11 year jail sentence. It was okay, not great, not bad. Had some weird editing and awkward cringe-worthy moments. The fact that there were protests over this movie when it came out is just silly, however.

The Last Starfighter: good lord, so 80's, so cheesy and odd, moments so bad it was funny. I liked the turtle head guy who had a poop face and laughed like an old grandpa. What the hell.

Hanna

Really enjoyed this. I saw it on a whim without knowing anything about it, no trailers, no word of mouth etc. I'm glad I did because the trailer portrays it as some sort of intense action film which it's not. This might explain why a few people ended up walking out of the theater.

It's a dense film, great locations, amazing visuals, sick soundtrack by the Chemical Brothers, and probably my favourite villains ever. Probably going to see it again.

I watched 'Juice' the other night; hadn't seen it in probably 15 years. Great film.

Also watched 'In Bruges' the other night as well. Not usually a fan of Colin Farrel, but he was ok in this, and I like the other guy(from 28 days later). Interesting film worth checking out.

You are right sir. You have no excuse. Terminator (like much of the rest of its kin from the early 80's) is just unquestionably great. Kind of like not bothering to watch Road Warrior. Jesus.

Confucius with Chow Yun Fat

Awesome movie.

I also watched the Game of thrones. Is it me or did the first episode have too many loose ends? The Queen is screwing that guy that she just met (I assume), there are blue eyed zombie creatures that didn't get a 2nd mention. The story diverted off to Pendos where a blonde woman is given to a warrior figure who will form an army to attack whom? The British?

I do not think that 1st episode was informative enough really.

hi, i didn't really see any loose ends, but i'll try to see if i can explain it a bit. The blue eye guys, were just an exaggeration from shocked peons aiding ned starks son. They are basically just human savages from neighboring lands on the other side of the continent wall. The lannister family, the King had twins, the queen (cersei) and the other son (jaime), basically its = incest (brother/sister) it's pretty much a normal thing in this period of time, alot of others in this genre have incest as well. Thats about it really lol. Oh, and yeah if you missed it Ned starks have a bastard son from a prostitute if i remember corrctly from, which is why he wasnt in the front lines of the two family introduction in middle of episode 1.

Yeah, I watched it again since I wrote the above. More came to me.

The Pendos scenes were not explained very well though. For a start the guy talks of losing a kingdom. Was it the kingdom of Kings Landing?

The dead guy with pebbles in his eyes I assume was murdered for witnessing the incesters!! Or something like that!

Seriously though the first episode requires your full attention. I'm hoping all these questions are answered in the next 2 or 3 episodes really.

For the first episode it is confusing because its starting the story in the middle with no background info on the story or the characters.

yes, its king's landning kingdom, i think he hired ned stark since his dispute with the previous mad king has led some backfire towards his kingdom. Ned starks hesitates though upon hearing all his previous hired man has been slained. The pebble scene, i mustve forgot where that part was. i only remember starks youngest son getting pushed off the tower balcony for witnessing the incest.

There was a scene of a dead man lying down in Kings Landing (the kings previous right hand man). He had some rocks in his eyes with weird "eyes" drawn on them. Or perhaps they were something different. But anyway, the incesters talk like he witnessed something and spoke as if they were now safe. Again, its wishy washy, never properly explained.

The realm is called "the seven Kingdoms". Whoever is called "the king" sits on the Iron Throne that's placed in King's Landing and is named the ruler of the seven kingdoms. King Robert (that fat guy who drinks, fucks etc)

Jon Arryn, the Hand of the king who we saw dead (with rocks on his eyes) supposedly died of natural courses but is later in the pilot (that letter from Arryn's widow/sister to Ned Stark's wife) revealed to have been murdered. Those whispers between the Queen and her brother, Jaime discuss whether or not Arryn told anyone about a secret that he figured out. No, it's not just the incest.

King Robert was supposed to marry Ned Starks sister, who was murdered by the Tharageyen's (don't know how to spell that) and while most of their kind was wiped out as Robert took the iron throne, the blond brother and sister escaped. They are the rightful heirs to the Iron Throne, but their Grandfather (who was really mad and horrible king btw) made people close to him turn and murder him.

I hope that clears stuff up a bit.

I spit on your corpse, I piss on your grave.

I watched it because I really liked the I Spit On Your Grave remake, HOWEVER this movie is nothing like that and I would rank it worse than August Underground.

Bad acting, bad script, bad camera work, bad theme, just bad. Among the worst movies ever made. Even for shock & gore categories.

Yeesh, you watch some pretty hardcore stuff. I would suggest Sick Girl and NIN Broken for you. Some other neat stuff that's not as graphic, 13: Game of Death, Breathing Room, Murder Party, Dog Bite Dog, 2LDK, Freeze Me. I guess each one of those is in a different genre, but there's allot of crazieness you may have not seen yet. There's still much more, that was just a couple off the top of my head.
The last movie I watched was The Killing Room, really great movie about MK-Ultra type testing on people. Nicely filmed and paced, with a quasi-believable feel to it.

I saw Natural Born Killers a week ago. It was pretty good, but it didn't by any means blow me away. Both leads did a great job and really, I mean really got into their roles. It's always nice to tell when an actor is having a lot of fun.

The Machinist was a weird duck. The insomnia thing was an interesting concept-- and they wait until the end of the movie to reveal why he has it -- but the movie is hardly original.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, close your eyes and hit the back button.

It uses the same device where the lead character mixes up details as in Memento.

@RNG, Pretty sure that's already been seen. Purposely didn't mention those types of movies, looking for something closer to Organ, or The Red Room, a whole different direction. The newest wave of J-shock films are okay, but really campy.. Plus, a few of my suggestions are really casual veiwing.

Cabaret - perhaps the most hyped film of my life (my mom's been going on about it for nearly as long as I live). Amazing how masterfully filmed and edited it is. Doesn't seem dated at all.

Not too bad but not too good either. Sits comfortably as average.

Kansas City Confidential - Excellent noir about a fall guy for a bank robbery tracks down the people who set him up. Bonus points for featuring a young as shit Lee Van Cleef.

Piranha - Just as gruesome and over the top as I'd expected. Probably more fun in the theater given that the CG fish and gore looked incredibly shiny and fake on dvd.

Watched Kes on netflix streaming. IMO this one is great, though hard to watch (I doubt I'll ever watch it again.) Very grim depiction of a rather uncaring British culture which seems to delight in harrying all the runts (adults, teachers and family are all seen as bullies.) The end struck me because when all was said and done, the main character's teachers (and really virtually no adult) had come to understand him and he was left as a total outsider. Pretty brutal actually.

Edit: Soundtrack is pretty great as well.
