Official name for the Mosquito mechanic in Mars Matrix?

I was writing an article on Mars Matrix, and I was wondering if the manual lists an official name for the Mosquito ability? The strategy topic here lists it as the "Mosquito Device," but I was wondering if that was just a fan-applied name or if it's literally printed in the manual. I've been calling it the Mosquito Drive my whole life (which I think sounds cooler) but if there's an official name I'd default to that for the sake of professional journalism. Thanks!

I just looked this up and on page 7 of the Japanese Dreamcast manual its referred to as the "absorption barrier [mosquito]".

The US DC manual also calls it "Absorption Barrier Mosquito".

Ah, I see. That's a bit cumbersome. I might rename it "mosquito barrier" in my review, or just keep it mosquito drive. Thanks guys!

Yep. The reason I didn't want to just call it your "mosquito" is because people who have played the game might get it confused with the ships for a second, and people who haven't might be mystified.

Well, I certainly don't think "barrier" is an adequate description of what it does.

So, maybe. Try explaining that to new players, though.

"Mars Matrix is a vertizontally scrolling spaceship shooter where you use your M.A.S., or Magnetic Absorption Slinger, to magnetically Absorpsling bullets into oncoming foes in order to explode them into tiny or large cubes which feed your score and chain gauge in relation to their compounded values and size, respectively."
