"'Cause if it's cartoon characters that means it's for kids." -Everyone ever who doesn't understand there is animation outside of Disney and Nickelodeon.

It's all a bit ridiculous to me. When one really thinks about it, who are these people trying to please or monitor? As a kid did explicit lyrics on an album really make you think? Well, maybe I shouldn't? And how many Nick kids have ever heard of otomedius? or would want to play it at that? Furthermore, i'm pretty sure 12-year olds and maybe even younger have already either seen real female parts or have caught it on the ever so convenient telly.

oh well, what can ya do? I'll just have to jerk off to porn...sorry to take it off topic, some.

I haven't played the first Otomedius but from the gameplay videos I've seen of this one, it looks really lacking in intensity... Is the difficulty comparable to the Gradius games or is it nothing like that at all? It kinda seems like there is too much screen space for so few enemies or something... Maybe it's just because all the videos are of 3 player games...

Maybe they just don't want kids to get horny and breed. Overpopulation is such a problem. It's okay to run over people and cars, shoot the opposing force, or cut someones head off; you are helping control overpopulation. I just solved the world's riddle.

There's a full playthrough on nico nico douga, and I'm afraid this game looks just as boring and easy as the last one.
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

I liked it, definetly buying the US version when it comes out, since I don't own a jap 360.

Is it just me or some parts of the game look kinda "doujinish"? :P

I enjoyed the first Otomedius. It is a fun game. He won't have the most compelling score mechanic but is a fun game. Maybe a sense of deja vu while playing the stages but it is not that bad, if you can overpass those boobs.

You just have to recalibrate your expectations. Once you stop hoping for it to be a good game you can just focus on the pretty backgrounds/pretending to be a Ragnarok and just wave cannoning bosses to death as soon as they show up/battleship raiding/Heaven's Gate/Neo Big Core/robot Hikaru and Akane/I WAS BORN OUT OF THE GREEDINESS OF MANKIND/Requiem for Revengers/Bydo Core last boss.

I mean it's got everything I was hoping for and more.

(also some of the levels don't look that bad if you ask me anyway)

I was considering this as my first Japan-locked shmup for my new NtscJ 360 but I can't now.
It's a shame the game looks so boring because I really like the art style and the soundtrack sounds AMAZING.

that pretty much sums up parodius in general...
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Can this thread not spiral into derailment? Nobody here has played the game, nor is anyone apparently aware of things like the co-op, which I am very much looking forward to messing with.

I"m easy to please. At 35 and 40 bucks for both G and E - I think that is a great buy. If I had paid $80 for either one of these - I would probably be disappointed.

Ok, I just finished playing 3 credits-worth of the game (first with Elun Tron on Story Normal, second with Elun Tron on Score Attack and third with Anoa on Story Expert).

Story Mode on anything less than Expert is braindead, and even then, Expert only really becomes challenging on the True Last Stage (stage 1-8, which can't be accessed on any other difficulty). The main reason being that you lose all your weapons and power-ups when you begin the level and the stage is basically a loop 2 difficulty (and the final boss even attacks you!). The TLS also pulls a nasty stunt in adding 3 extra power-up slots to your meter, right in the middle (so you now need 8 power capsules to get one Option). Story Mode ends after a single loop, although Score Attack Mode follows the traditional multiple loops format (and just like the first game, the second loop features a rather massive spike in difficulty). Weapon cards are now gained for all characters simultaneously (there are no character-specific cards this time). So playing through with any one character will unlock cards for all the other characters.

I don't know why folks get all worked up over parodius honestly.... it's a gradius clone and a pretty vanilla one at that. The theme is cute and all but there are quite a few in that series that I just find flat out boring these days.

I guess I should clarify now that I've spent more time with the game and cleared Expert Story Mode with all of the characters. The above only happens with Anoa when playing through stage 8 since she changes into her Hyper form. All the other characters retain their power-ups when going into stage 1-8, making it ridiculously easy.

Some notes on the new characters:
Arnval
Has 4 options that basically resemble Type-3 from G5, although, I couldn't find a way to alter their spacing.

Geeshi Hanafuuma
She flies a demonic version of the Axelay, so no Options.. in their place she gets a third weapon slot.

Hyper Anoa
She has 9 weapon slots (as I stated earlier) and can only activate 2 Options. She can combine Up Laser or Down Laser with either her Double or Laser shot.

It's pretty much another Gradius game and it's funny? I think that's a good enough reason to love it.

Seriously, people hating on Parodius? What has the world come to? ^_^;

Still waiting for my Konamistyle Limited Set to get shipped. Any ideas how long Konamistyle items take to ship? Probably didn't help I ordered the Otomedius OST along with it, which recently got recalled for having one switched track and 2 unused tracks in the first printing.

I don't know, I'm personally pretty excited for this game as they have a lot more going on than in the first. Speaking of Parodius, there's quite a bit of fanservice in that regard in this game too! Something I thought was amiss in the first game. Not to mention the fact that according to some data on the disc, the DLC will actually include content from Non-Konami shmups!

You know, people is always complaining, I'll never understand it since the game is the new Parodius, I guess people that used to loved the simplicity of the konami saga are just now "ZomCaveshed".
By the way Blue where did you get the konamistyle edition?? I have been looking for it but I was unable to find it.
