Very jealous Dave! Is this the one off of AO? I had to pass on that one to afford Mad Shark and Meta Fox (once the second arrives with me I'll post here).

Good find though! Enjoy it!

No, I wasn't aware of that one. I don't look for PCBs on AO much since its primarily UK sales only. Anyway, glad you got Mad Shark instead, I think thats harder to find. :D

What's slick about those Taito G-Cards of Psyvariar Revision is that they save your best superplay run + all your high scores & high scores intials directly to the G-Card itself for posterity. How cool is that?

Very cool indeed, considering most PCBs don't even save your high scores...but saving replays of the #1 score is a killer feature. I wonder how popular this feature was while the game was in the arcades.

You certainly did get it mate, and your offer was greatly appreciated. I simply had to hold off! I've been getting to close to buying more PCBs than I can properly play recently. Enjoy it!

A lovely Jap. Esp Ra.De.

Pics will follow.

This is something very special to me. As mentioned before, it's my first PCB. I have to admit, installing and playing this on my Blast City is quite an emotional experience. This is it. Now I understand why it's called "the real thing" by so many.

Because it IS the real thing.

I have a feeling this won't be my last PCB...

Thanks Dave. Well, at first I've been quite reluctant to shell out so much money for just a single game. Especially as it is allready emulated quite well in MAME. I have to admit, it is even emulated almost perfectly, gameplay-wise. The PCB *might* feel a little bit "sharper", more precise, but all in all, the MAME-Emulation is astounding. Now that I have the real thing to compare to, I have even more respect for the work of those coders who bring those games to MAME.

So, if you really want to play the game, MAME is more than enough, it delivers the game itself - if MAME is properly tuned, I even dare-say it's a 1:1 experience - gameplay wise.

BUT! Don't underestimate the emotional aspect. I'd never thought this would be possible, but playing the real PCB on real arcade Hardware... It's like a dream come true. Deep in my brain, there is this little voice, that tells me: "Now Drachi, THIS is it! THIS is how the coders wanted you to play the game, to experience it!" And suddenly, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling deep inside me. :-D

And inserting the next coin, hearing the +1 credit jingle... Pressing start...

Yeah, emotionally, it is a completely different beast. It is like playing a part of history. I just love it, and yes: I WILL play the board until I get the 1cc. Maybe I'll practice a little bit with savestates at home, but ultimately, the 1cc-arcade-experience will be mine, eventually!

Thanks for listening to my fanboisch words, but I'm still so hyped.

 Told ya... :P

Congrats mate, glad you are enjoying it. 8)

I have my cab up to run on 20p coins, like you I love the feeling of popping coins in and playing - kinda makes the 1cc pursuit more real somehow.

Plus it's a nice little way to save a few quid too

Hehe, being able to use coins to get the credits just makes this deal for me. :-) But actually, I could feed any coin to the machine, as the coin-mech has been ripped out already in Japan. I took the "home improvement" approach and used some cardboard to make a chute for the coins... So basically, you could use anything that fits the chute, but I'm using the cab now as some kind of "piggie bank", hehe.

Here we go...

Looky what Mr. Postman brought to me:

Image

What's inside? Let's find out! :-)

Image

Isn't it lovely? :-D
Image

Well, it isn't a PCB, but here's a pic of the marquée anyhow. It's completely flat and without the slightes wrinkle now:
Image

Yeah, and I guess you know how a PCB looks like in a cab, but here we go anyway:
Image

I'm loving the fuck out of this game! But... if there is really much going on on the screen... The graphics tend to flicker... Not all of it, just the Bomb-bar and the score/insert coin of the second player. This happens at the stadium-spider-robot thingy. And if there is really, really intense action, for example if you blow up a boss, the flicker is so extreme even my player-figure flickers and disappears for a little while. I fear something is not quite allright with the board? It's far from unplayable, but I think it's strange...

That's perfectly normal.

Congrats on the game! EspRADE was my first PCB as well. :)

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a memory issue. But its that way by design, not a fault.

Love the marquee. Would like it 8)

Suits me. I hate this bitch, if only because of her vooooooiiccceeee....

I guess the marquée is from this site:
http://mcs-arcade.com/marquees.html

Btw, thanks for clearing the flicker-issue up. I was a bit worried, cause I only played the MAME version so far, which of cousre is an inferior version, because it doesn't have the flicker *lol*.

Hehe, on a sidenote: I'm actually "saving" money when I play this game: As there was no more coin-mech inside, I just used some cardboard an duct-tape as a coinchute (yes, I know, purists will look down on me now). Now I can use CHF 1.-- coins to play. I've been collecting CHF 1.-- coins for the last couple of weeks and today I played about 30 coins. *lol*

Here's the chute, ducttape ftw!

Casey, colour me envious...

Enjoy the game, maybe someday me too I'll be a proud owner of a MMP board. The game is just too good, I definitely have to give the port some more playtime. But that's easier said than done, too much to play, too little time. :-D
