Looks good. I like simple with busy screens. Pity its not available on PS3 though.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I don't know, based on the video this might as well be from any other indie developer. Art style is cute, but would have liked to see something that looks more like Cave.

I don't like the fact that the guy has no animations.

This looks like a flash browser game, not a real game on a real console. Why doesn't the dude move at all?

I am disappoint Cave.

Dude doesn't move at all because he's a shadow puppet. See the stick?
Game looks cute, and comfortably above Flash level, but there are an awful lot of these (I am guessing score-based frustration platfomer from the video) types of games coming out right now.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

I thought that seemed familiar, awesome indeed. The game looks like it could be pretty fun, I'm just worried doing well will be compleltely a matter of memorization but it's tough to tell from the trailer. Anyways the art style is cute.

Explanation? I like both games (both 200/200'd) but super meat boy has much more level variety and overall more effort put into each level. The run button allows for faster gameplay instead of having to accelerate and decelerate slowly over and over. And well, you can even unlock the ninja from N. He is maybe the best character in the game.

This game seems to center on a hook swinging mechanic and score attacking, not that related to those two games.

Looks ok at least....I'd have to play it to see how fun it is. Definitely not what I was expecting for their next title...must have owed some programmers something they wanted to do... :D
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art

I like Nin2's artwork my only concern is how the pc controls as it looks abit floaty to me.
And while it is a platformer imo its unfair to totally compare it to N or SMB as Nin2 will have combat in it with what looks to be a shmup style & time based score system.

After buying super meat boy at xmas Ive only just got around to playing it last weekend. I must say its a bloody good game, The dark world is pure evil :) ive just got to the 3rd world (salt factory) with the dark world 2nd or 3rd stage (the one where you have to make pixil perfect jumps up a vertical salty shaft) totally and utterly kicking my arse, I hate to think what the end stages will be like
Shame the leaderboard is a complete fuck up with times 0:00, 0:20 and above

Never played N+ only the original N flash game which controls very well for a flash game, does N+ make any improvements to the gameplay or is it just better map packs?

True, but there's a difference between 'this is the best way to complete the level', and 'this is the only decent way to complete the level'. It's just a matter of preference, and why I'm not a big R-Type fan. I'll definitely give the demo a try when it's around, it'll be interesting to play another Cave game that isn't a shmup after all these years.

I'm really digging the art style, though I'm not sure if the gameplay looks all that great from that trailer.

Something about all of the above seems wrong somehow.

The only thing that concerns me is that the jump looks seriously weird - the character never manages to jump directly onto a platform, there's always an odd floaty moment where he seems to attach onto the side of a wall before rising up again. In fact, it looks an awful lot like you're really controlling the stick, rather than the character.

Which is either a worrying indication that the jumping mechanics are fucked, or a promising sign of how effectively and completely the visual style has been implemented.

honestly this looks like the first thing from CAVE in a long time that i'm really going to enjoy. lots of soul going on here. reminds me of their older stuff, maybe not in gameplay, but certainly in spirit. to be honest their recent stuff has just been so... lifeless, i guess, that i haven't been able to get into it at all.

400 points, set for April.

Buying the donation set from cave's shop will go towards Red Cross Japan. For all 6 of you who can actually do this, go for it.

Spadgy reported here http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... &start=660

that until June the money raised on this will go to aide disaster victims. There's also mention of bug panic doing the same for a duration.

Looks cool. I would like to see the character be a bit less rigid, though, even if he is a shadow puppet. I think they could do a lot more with the idea.

I'm sorry to junk up this thread with such a noob question, but are XBLA games available in all regions, or do you need a Japanese 360 (or account) to play these (and the many other xbla shmup titles)?

(hint: I don't own a 360, that's why I'm so darn ignorant.)
