Neo-Geo 4-slot MVS question(s) (price?)

Post by drauch »

I tried to post this over at the Neo Geo forums, but since I'm a new member they won't post it. Anyhow, my main question is quite simple: how much should I pay for an MVS 4-Slot board? I have a 2-slot in my cabinet at a friend's pizza place, but I'd really like to upgrade and get a wider selection of games to appeal to a larger audience. The only one on ebay right now is a buy it now for 70, but it's without sound. I've read that fixing the sound issue is quite easy and cheap, as you just have to replace the caps on the board, but I'm not sure if I want to take that risk. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds fair if its an easy fix - uk gbp £70ish for a working 4 slot.

I believe the sound issue is typically caused by feeding the board jamma connection instead of neogeo mvs - although last I heard this wasn't actually confirmed 100% since I think the technical reasons for this were vague? ... I couldn't tell you what to replace.

My lazy solution was to have an extension harness without the offending jamma differences and get sound from the 4 pin headphone connector.
