Skrillex

Post by Vyxx »

Anyone listen to this stuff?
I guess this guy has just started his career but became famous very fast from his original album or whatever.

Sounds like Transformers having sex or something once the "drops" in the songs hit.

Here's some stuff:

I used to be really into this guy until i realized all his songs are the same. lol

but the song "scary monsters n nice sprites" is amazing as well as "scatta" in fact i need to get both back on my iPod right now!

he's really been famous for quite awhile since he was in the god awful band from first to last. after that he wanted to redeem himself so he's been working on this weird bassy cybertron electro whatever. he hasn't released a full album but 2 eps that are pretty solid. hope the album is just as great and even better.

btw cant wait to play the new mk.

Pretty terrible. The whole "brostep" genre can GTFO, imo. Skrillex, Datsik, Excision, etc. It all sounds the same and it bores me to tears.

Another -core kid here, i'm entirely new to this whole dubstep thing, and found that the related songs from Skrillex found on YT were too samey for my tastes.
"Kill Everybody" was the best i found, and i liked it for the breaks, not the stupid robot voice thing.

Not so big into dubstep myself, but Skrillex does have a couple dope tunes (some of them are less dubstep-ey)

I just don't like how people act like this is the new sound. It's just a sloppy off shoot of EBM, IDM, Jungle, Industrial, Noise, etc.. This kind of stuff has been around for the last twenty five years. Now any goon with a pc can make it. So what. It was neat when people got together to test the limits of their gear, and audience. I've seen plenty of live shows in the past were this type of stuff was played, and the club would clear out except for a dozen people. Sure it sounds a little cleaner with fancy edits, but it has lost the heart of experimentation. Hell, even hip-hop has started to sound like EBM...
edit: Okay, maybe not twenty five years, but a damn long time.
