YAY AUSSIES
I'm at NT and we have/had all of the Raiden titles ignoring 1 and DX. I don't know where the Raiden Fighters PCBs have been moved to but Raiden II is at the town's main popular cinema along with After Burner Climax and new nonshmup trash. I'd explain what happened precisely to the RF1/2/JET cabs over the years but its a long story and I'm on the Wii, can't type well enough.
EDIT:
I know we used to have Raiden Fighters at a fish and chips shop, Raiden Fighters 2 used to be at the Einsteins arcade but they since shut down and then reopened with only carracing games and Tekken closer to the city on a lockin-party deal, Raiden Fighters JET was once at a club near the main shopping mall, then got moved to another sports club (and Im not certain if its still there anymore), and Raiden II used to be at the airport but then got moved to the cinema at the main 'mall' where it is now.

Yeah Timeout picked up Raiden IV a while ago, looks like arse on the widescreen LCD cab they're running it through, also some input delay.Marble wrote:Just giving the heads up that Bluehouse on Russel St in Melbourne has some vert just called "DX" set up on a Blast City cab. Timeout at Box Hill has a really sweet Raiden IV set up - unfortunately I didn't have time to give it a spin. They're the only STGs at these arcades I'm afraid, although Bluehouse has Metal Slug 6 and some kind of Neo-Geo compilation with MS3 on it. At least they're both great arcades to go to for fighters.
Kinda frustrating, aside from Raiden I haven't really found anything else near Melbourne, mostly why I drifted off to IIDX seeing as we have a cabinet at Timeout which is taken care of despite its age.
Funnily enough we actually had quite a few people playing Strikers 1945+ before the owner sold off all the Egret 2's to some collector or w/e still kicking myself for not picking one up for $700 still crying myself to sleep over that deal
Re: Aussies?
If there is anyone in the Newcastle area, in the bowling alley at Charlestown Square, Strikers 1945 is set up. It is too bad the machine hasn't been looked after, the stick and buttons are pretty fucking awful. But yeah, it is there surprisingly.

Re: Aussies?
Melbourne here. Getting back into consoles after a very long hiatus. i have a mega drive, saturn(modded jap ver 2) and dreamcast(ntsc-U) hooked up right now, and i'm reaquiring a ps2. When i feel the need to get proper old school i have an amstrad cpc 6128, which is fun to play if nothing else to see how arcade games were translated onto those 8 bit consoles. Buying a 360 is seeming very tempting right now i have just spent the last few days playing DDP resurection and espagaluda II on my iphone and i think they would look absolutely gorgeous on the bigger screen. On the saturn ive been giving strikers 1945 quite a bashing and mars matrix hasnt been out of the DC for i dont know how long. Actualy i blame my obsession over shmups, with getting a mega drive (again) a few months ago and getting sucked right in with MUSHA and Thunderforce IV.

Awesome
From Melbourne here as well. I'm actually getting back into old titles lol, trying my best to acquire old consoles that i either sold or gave away etc when i was young.
All of them were basically the best consoles for FTG/STG's so i do regret big time, but getting them all back now in one way or another
Currently not playing anything due to an injury though

Re: Aussies?
What possible type of injury could stop you playing shmups? =). I'm hearing ya about selling off consoles and then reaquireing them later. I have been very lucky in that i managed to find a brand new jap rev 2 sega saturn still in its box on ebay. There was a dude had 10 of them for sale. Best $150 i have ever spent. I'm running that over svideo into my 22" LCD and it looks amazing. My mega drive has had the svideo mod and alos looks fantastic. The dreamcast im using (also a brand new unit i got from ebay a couple months back) over vga mostly and to say it looks good is quite an understatement. You really should see a game like zero gunner vga. Very impressive. What would you be playing if you werent injured?
