What kind of pace should I be on for a "decent" score. I don't have a particular number in mind. For right now I'd like to hit 200 million.
Right now I pretty much always hit the 35 mil extend midway through the 2nd phase of the 2nd boss and with the level bonuses going into the 3rd level at about 44-46 mil (I'm kind of guessing right now, but that seems about right). I don't know if there's a lot of room left to improve on score in those first two levels or not.
I'm pretty much where you are right now with this. But, within the last couple of weeks I figured out what I was doing wrong in the second level. You probably aren't getting the most points you can from the squid and icicle canceling sections. Watch someones replay a couple times. It's kinda hard on the 1st one, but the rest should be giving you allot of points. You'll be really happy how this starts working out. The score will be over 50 mil.
Your over all score is better than mine right now. I've been able to get better strategies for the levels lately, but have yet to be able to get them together into a single run so far. My current is 167 mil..
I don't know, Original is a bitch to pull completely together for a decent score/clear, you are always on this razors edge. It's taking me awhile to really get to stage 5 semi regularly. But, then I start doing new things and take a step back. I've been mostly doing stage practice lately, so it's getting better.
Ok, I'll see if I can find a replay of LV2.
My high score previous to 196M was about 170M so I was right there with you. The strange thing is that my score with this game seems to go in big steps and then plateau. I'll just have a great run and my score will jump 30-60M points and then plateau for awhile (this has happened about 3-4 times since I started playing), but I always feel like I can do just a little better. I really like the scoring in Futari Original because it's kind of free formed and simple. It's not so damn rigid that you have to calculate every move before you make it.
brokenhalo wrote:@Hair Just a suggestion, try downloading the #1 replay available for 1.5 original off the leaderboards and check it out. It'll give you a better understanding of what the game is all about, without the time sink of learning the game yourself. you might be pleasantly surprised at how nuts it gets once you learn how to score well in it.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will be getting XBL and the upgrade HD in about a week. I stupidly bought the 4GB model because I didn't plan on getting XBL, or more than a few games, but now I want DLC and such.
I'm sure that when trying to score properly, Original mode is much more difficult. My first post on the matter admittedly didn't take that into account. I enjoy dodging and rarely try to master scoring elements, so it's usually not on my mind when I am new to a game. I still think that Maniac is more what I am looking for though.

Not everyone is a game-destroying cyborg, Icarus. How the hell do you get the extend before the midboss?! I don't die or bomb, I try to time my icicle kills with maximum bullets, and I point-blank everything I can and I don't even come close to that.
One day I'm going to get back on the internet that isn't via my phone and watch some superplays. Ugh.

Fixed.
You sir, are a miracle worker. I normally get first extend just before the st2 boss.
I am loving the faster ship speed of Black Label. A lot of my "issues" with the game are fixed by having a faster ship speed. I know BL is supposed to be easier, but I find the faster speed makes it more fun.
Especially loving BL Palm! I am having more fun with the game now, and that's good.

Goodness! If I am not mistaken, the first extend is at 100m? I have never been able to manage that on stage 2. The closest I can get is around 95-97mil after defeating the stage 2 boss, and then I pick it up around the beginning of stage 3.
Pork n Sweets have taken all my time from this game, I will have to give it a few runs today so I don't get worse at the game. I think I could consistantly 1cc up to stage 3 boss if I could only stop making silly mistakes
Icarus was talking about 1.5 (extends at 35mil and 100mil), not BL. If you're scoring 95mil on stage 2 in 1.5 Original, then YOU are the miracle worker!

Oh goodness no. That makes more sense. How is that score for BL though i wonder?
MAN! I was on an excellent pace on a 1.5 Original run. No missed ST1,2 and 4, with only one death on ST3. Was set to break 200M easily (previous high score = 191M). But I pissed off the game and the rank on ST5 was out to teach me a lesson. My chain was the highest I'm ever had it at like 28,000. I lost my cool and choked hard. I managed to get the 1UP and make it to Larsa, but I only had one life and she spanked me. In the end I only ended up scoring 192M. What a letdown.. But I'm getting to ST5 pretty consistently now, so I just have to keep at it. Also practiced Larsa for about 40 minutes. It's really annoying having to watch that intro every time you restart the training..
If you're just aiming for the clear right now, then don't worry about Larsa too much. Focus instead on getting through stage 5 without dying and then just bombspam the fat skank to death.
Stage 5 is pretty easy if you stop worrying about pesky little things like score (much like the second half of stage 3). I spread-shot the hell out of popcorn rushes always. I laser the bigger targets always (hey, this sounds like my advice for dealing with stage 3). Speedkill things before they become a headache. Sure, by not matching shot type to your counter you're missing points, but you're missing a lot MORE by dying so much in stage 5 (the most lucrative stage for scoring).
Once you're more familiar with bullet patterns and enemy locations, then start adding in scoring opportunities. Remember, adding even a little to your counter is better than dying or bombing and losing a lot of your counter.

That helps me a lot, i always play for score, and always start dying in the 2nd half of stage 3

If I have a JP 360 with a JP Live Account, I'll be able to redeem NA points to buy Futari Black Label?
You need to make an NA account to redeem NA points.
You'll still be able to play content you purchase on your 360 with other accounts from other gamertags. Things only get iffy if you try to move to another 360.

Okay, did just that.
God Mode is amazing. It's like they took everything that makes cave games great and combined it into one. Absolutely loving it. ...and as hard as it looked in vids, it's only about as difficult as 1.5 Maniac. The patterns look hard but cave provided some fairly easy routes through. 10/10 IMO
...only complaint could be lack of power on Palms focus shot compared to Abnormal Palm in 1.5.
Also back to adding points to a NA account for stuff to use on a JP account, does it works with themes and gamer pics too? It doesn't seem to work for avatar items :/
The stalling looks more like a variant of rank control.
If you watch the later part of the run, he hits the max rank at 70,000 counter just a little bit before Larsa then bombs the max rank away near the start of the fight.

It has to be available on the North American marketplace. Most of the themes, pics, etc. for Japan-only releases aren't.
Chaos Phoenixma wrote:The stalling looks more like a variant of rank control.
Controlling rank by letting the overall counter drop a few hundreds on stage 2 achieves exactly nothing, I'm afraid. The X360 mode leaderboard has an excellent 547 million replay, btw.

Sorry to resurrect this old topic, and I realize that this is probably covered elsewhere but I've been using the search function to no avail. I have the below version of Mushi and am just wondering what DLC is included inside? Is it the 1.01, or is there another card that's possible to be included? I've scoured every inch of the packaging, but all it says is that theres IS a "Download contents card" inside.. But I'm not sure what it actually is.
