Problem with HAPP Competition & KOF!
Hello all. Well i bought a HAPP competition and it is a great joystick but im having a little problem with it. The thing is when i make a special move like Roberts Ryos or Yori´s that you have to go "quarter circle forward" and then "half circle back" i manage to do it only in one side of the screen, in the other is very hard to do it. Why is that? Is that something normal in the HAPP competitions? The same thing happens with simpler moves like "quarter circle forward + punch or kick" i got ir right only from one side if i go to the other is very hard or i have to be much more precise. Anyone could enlight me? Thanks.

Honestly, I think it's just you. I know that sounds harsh, but I don't mean it that way--as I have the same problem myself, but moreso with double quarter circles. Some sticks I can do everything I want; other sticks I constantly have problems. The only advice I can give is keep practicing--a lot.

Thanks Drauch. Its ok, i just really want to understand the why. If the problem is me ill have to identify the manouver of my hand but i believe its probably the stick. I say that because i have a REAL ARCADE PRO 3 with japanese sanwa stick i believe and when i use it on MAME with the same KOF 98 i manage to make the moves no matter the side i am and also when i use brazilian joysticks (Generic Super joys) i manage to do it fine. I dont know maybe its both, the joy and me... Anyway thanks for the answer and if anyone have other becauses i really appreciate it.

it's because the motions to do 236 and 214 (just as an example) are a little different as you are moving your fingers, wrist and arm differently for each movement. you are just more comfortable doing it one way versus the other. just keep practicing, especially in a training mode that shows inputs, that way you get a reference as to what you are doing right/wrong.
and if you are into fighters, try out a sanwa jlf stick if you get the chance. it's an extremely different feel than the HAPP, but most people prefer the japanese parts over american parts nowadays.

if you are experienced with sticks it might be a problem with the happ, but i would doubt it. check your inputs and make sure you aren't missing any diagonals or anything then. that's my main problem with the happ sticks, i have a hard time hitting diagonals cause i'm so used to the sanwa gate.

happ sticks are very different from sanwa...
As far as kof specifics I think this must come down to timing and switch engage differences if you can do it on one and not on the other - beware tilts and rotation angles - its easy to actually hold a new stick at an not only tilted forawrd or back - but also at a rotated [twirled?... up axis
] angle left right if you're not used to its casing shape or button layout.
... oh and maybe make sure that any changes in height or angle do not mean that desks/arm rests are now getting in the way... Sounds silly but it can happen....
a shmup test try and hit the diagonals constantly for a while when playing. Then the straight vertical or laterals ... any 'slipping' into, or from, an angle could inform you of any tendencies or differences you might be experiencing.

Re: Problem with HAPP Competition & KOF!
Thanks guys, i was seeing the super joystick is very used in arcades here in Brazil and when i play KOF on them i have no problem to hit special moves in any side i am. Maybe the HAPP super is a more proper joystick to KOF games.
