I read about his auctions at sega-16. I think that's an understatment, going by his previous auctions and how he was banned from sega-16.

Apparently that makes him a top-rated seller!

I don't understand.

Sellers that reseal and rate seal items often got top rated seller status. This seller sells stuff at inflated prices and, from what I remember at sega-16, he was banned for ripping people off. I read the threads over at sega-16 again. rpgarcana sells resealed items as new.

No chaps youve got everything wrong this seller isnt a ripp off merchant but the very glue that holds together the frabric of Retro gaming

As soon as I saw all those shrink wrapped games stacked together alarm bells started ringing.

Im not a colector and never would pay silly money for shrink wrapped games (but if someone wanted to pay me £XXX for unplayed games thats another matter). Out of curiosity how hard is it to tell between legit and fake wrapped games? Im guessing its such stuff as stickers and whatnot but that would depend upon which console or publisher it is. Ild guess that theres less chance of 360 games been faked in years to come since they have special seals on the side of the case, any other publishers / consoles use simlar seals?

Im guessing that there is a shitload of faked games that have been sold at inflated prices. I can imagine many collectors have been bitten if fakes and those who havnt just dont know it yet

I've just read the thread on sega-16, was amusing.
He also "sells" TG16 controllers for 110 bucks a piece, has a top loader with a bunch of games for 1,500 up, and a truckload of commonly found NES games in the 100-200 dollars range. That guy is completely crazy.

That was amusing.

However, if all these guys would quit wasting their money on buying sealed games you wouldn't have total thieves like this guy resealing everything. If anything, the stupid ones are the buyers, and he - as much as I hate to say it - was smart enough to buy a shrinkwrapper simply because sealed game collecting douches won't ever open the plastic to find a copy of Shaq Fu and some newspaper cuttings inside their "brand new" Sonic & Knuckles.

Sort of serves them right tbh.

Amen.

I do like those re-closeable plastic wraps that most Japanese sellers seem to use, though.

After receiving several games w/ the resealable wraps, I purchased some for myself.
A buddy came over and had a blast giving me shit while I was packing
up my ps2 games. They're cheap and worth it; I don't like the cases on my PS2 games getting
scuffed up. And while I'll prob never play 50% of my collection, I'd like em to remain looking
halfway decent if/when I sell a game here or there.

Yeah, I like those too, cos you can open them and play the game. No problems there.

It wont be to long before scammers will perfect the way they reseal games and no one will be able to spot the difference anymore although some will probably keep telling themselves they can .
That will be the end of the madness .

I've always liked the idea of a ham sandwich lurking in some guy's Final Fantasy III. Credit to Ed Oscuro for the awesome mental image. XD

Some of the threads on that notorious sealed game site flogged here a few years back are absolutely mental. My favourite is the one where a guy is deeply concerned about the condition of the y-folds on a random Xbox game.

Well RGPARCANA seems to have done a good job up until now, but he's clearly been foiled by greed - too much sealed stock and really dumbass prices.
That shrinkwrapper would have gone a lot further if he'd been a little more inconspicuous and less money hungry.

It's the most retarded facet of this hobby by far. I've been over it a few times and it's obvious enough that it doesn't need repeating (short ver: not playing games defeats the very purpose of owning them), but I do get some chuckles from visiting the trading section of sealedgameheaven. It always gives me a half hour of both disbelief and amusement to see what they sell sealed copies of brand new (2010) games to each other for, when you can get a mint one on ebay for about £2.

Anyway, I posted this in another thread a while back, but for your delectation, this is what qualifies as sealed these days. 100 Euros for a 2 year old game:
Lol, "sealed" !!
And this, a PAL copy of Mario Sunshine just sold to some donut for £115?!

Makes you feel glad you were born with common sense, eh?

I read that thread for shits and giggles. Its bleeding obvious hes a resealler especially with him buying mint games to wrap, surly he would buy a few "cheap" sealed games and mark it up. That diabled ebay account was his aswell, as I noticed both accounts sold Gackt J-Pop albumns. this is too fishy for a USA seller

I can imagine with all the ppl stupid enough to buy bad fakes of sealed games that sooner or later all boxed games will have a seal around them, and all the playing of games will be on roms

I don't understand...why such a big deal for gamecube component cables? Because they are "official"?

no. they are the ONLY cables that work, because it's more than a cable. it's a Digital to Analog converter in a cable. the only one that can talk to a Gamecube. it also can be hacked, to make a GC do VGA or a US GC do low-res RGB.

Not nearly in the same degree of insanity as the aforementioned insanities, but it's weird: not long ago I saw a Sega Saturn S-Video cable for less than $10, international shipping included; now they cost over twice that much. What the hell. :?
