On this board it takes about 12 seconds to run through all of the tests (Work RAM, CPS RAM, OBJECT RAM, SOUND RAM, EEP ROM, PROGRAM ROM 0 and 1). But when it checks PROGRAM ROM 0 and PROGRAM ROM 1, it is almost instant as Razoola states.
I asked about it on arcadeotaku and neo-geo. Some of the things I found out are:
- most of the legit US Progear boards do not have the daughter board
- the US Progear boards have eproms instead of mask roms
- the handwritten eprom labels aren't uncommon on the later games because of the low production runs
If it's a bootleg conversion, it's a very elaborate one. They would've had to have access to the Capcom warranty stickers too. I had to cut two of these Capcom warranty stickers to access the security bolts to open it up:
You can see that it leaves silver marking behind when you try to peal them.
Wasn't this the game that got ported to Saturn and everyone said was a real turd?
