Earthquake has hit Japan

The news is saying an 8.8 earthquake hit off the coast of japan damaging buildings in Tokyo and now a tsunami is rolling in and has hit some of the far northern areas of Tokyo in the rural areas.

Scared shitless, here. I was in my office here in Nagano and it shook pretty hard for at least a minute.

Live on the news now I'm watching the tsunami tear throw a town. Doesn't look good for those folks.

I wish the phones would work so I could call my girlfriend.

The images coming in from the news networks is stupefying. It's all pretty standard until you realize the water flows are made of houses.

OMG! Thats just crazy, you can see this massive amount of water just coming in and rising and rising, sweeping everything. Hope the folks had time to seek higher ground,

from what I can read on the news, the quake didnt kill anyone, but the following Tsunami probably did...

That was the worst one I have ever experienced in my 8 years by far.

I was home alone and I took shelter under the piano, hoping it would just bloody stop. It went on for a very long time, the whole building swaying with things falling off of the shelves.

It really was frightening (in a bad way).

I hope everyone else survived alright.

I have the lecky on thankfully. Out and about, the traffic lights are buggered which is most strange to see and clearly dangerous.

Can't speak to anyone on their mobiles regardless of network.

The biggest problem now is that the Tokyo train network has been shut down ever since the quake hit, over 6 hours now. I don't live close to my place of work, so I have no choice but to sleep in the office tonight with the other people in my situation. Can't imagine how crazy the major stations are now.
