Sorry if this wasn't clear; but I was referring to the Fury. The SLG doesn't seem to have a power connector? And, again, 720p PS3 component transcoded to VGA via XSelect works perfectly, but doesn't look nearly as good. Haven't tried 360 component.

Guys, there's an iScan HD listed of Videogon for just $50.

Works nicely with the SLG, so somebody in the USA buy this please !

I signed up but I got a message stating it may take 4-8 hours for the registration process to be completed. While I'm waiting, is this a decent scaler without the SLG3000? Does it introduce significant input lag?

EDIT: That was a fast 4-8 hours, email sent to the seller.

EDIT2: Was already pending sale, so it went to some other person.

The photos on arcadeforge clearly show a molex connector, among other power connector types, attached to provide power directly to the SLG3000. I'm not sure if this connector is attached by default, but the leads for it should be there.

it was the first DVDO generation with direct RGBs support next to YUV, S-Video and composite video. It does a nice job, yes, is highly compatible with PAL and NTSC and both 240p and 480i. It can also run MVS and Seibu PCBs on displays which can also show straight 60Hz. The processing lag is bearable, especially when paired with a fast display.

The molex connector on the SLG has been removed since most sources provide enough power to run the SLG. The solder connections are there though and it's no problem to attach a power supply.

HI
You have to solder a lttle screw terminal.
Connect to 5V DC like at my photo. May fix such problems, because pos. sync spends only few power to the unit.
The effective value of the sync is much lower as at neg. sync.
Also it would fix problems with higher resolutions.

okay, I received the first batch of cases. I`ve assembled them and it fits perfectly. So the change from prototyping with CNC and series production with laser cutting did not throw any problems. I`ve rounded the edges for the potentiometer axis hole, put the acryl to 3mm strength and added etchings with SLG 3000 logo. The white case has doming sticker. :) All cases have now a clear edge :)

For Info : Third wave of SLG is sold. 4th wave of SLG is coming soon.

In the next days I write to all of you who stated interest in a case. If you don't receive any mail until weekend, then feel to free to give me message again. Hopefully I can put the case to my shop page the next week then.

Finally....

PS3->HDFURY3->SLG->DELL LCD

MvC2 (480p mode)

This game through the SLG looks every bit as stunning as it does through a PS2 in 15khz mode (with the SLG in toe).

Really impressed to be honest.

So, if I want to display a SNES on a PC CRT at 31KHz with emulated scanlines, which would make more sense:

SNES -> RGB to Component transcoder -> HD Box Pro -> SLG3000 -> PC CRT
or
SNES -> XRGB-3 -> PC CRT

Thanks,

If you have both setups possible I'd go with the XRGB-3 as it will do a better job than the transcoder/HD Box Pro combo.

The SLG3000 is awesome, and the transcoder is probably ok, but the HD Box did not work well for me starting with 240p sources but for 480P the box was ok.

For example When I ran PS2@480P->HD Box Pro->SLG3000 the results look satisfactory to me.

If you go the non xrgb route, I would think that Fagin's Edge/hdfury(not 2) combo would be a better alternative.
Current Setup:

720P------------------------v
240P->XRGB-3->Edge->4x2 matrix->DLP HDTV
480i/P->YPbPrselect-^ . . ^ . . V-->hdmi2vga->Super Emotia->Tate CRT SDTV
PC->vga2hdmi-------------^

What's important to you?

Lack of Lag
Picture quality
Stability
Cost
Simple connection
Multi functionality

Everything is a trade-off in some way shape or form.

The fact is the SLG will cover-up a number of "quality" issues very nicely, but there maybe more to it than that for your specific needs.

In order:
Cost
Lack of Lag
Picture quality
Stability

Not Important:
Simple connection
Multi functionality
mvs -> cga 2 vga converter off ebay (gbs-8220 or whatever it's called) @ 640x480 -> slg3000 -> lg 2000cp lcd
This looks good too, except for me it would be:
SNES RGB out -> cga 2 vga converter off ebay (gbs-8220 or whatever it's called) @ 640x480 -> slg3000 -> PC CRT Monitor @ 640x480
Won't need the RGB->component transcoder as with the HD Box pro.

Also I think an XRGB-2+ would work, maybe could wait until one comes up for not too much money. I'd be ok with the non-granular scanline intensity adjustment I think.

Thinking about which one would be better to buy, don't have either setup. For 480p, I'll go directly to the monitor. I don't have any intention of adding scanlines to 480p material.

So HD Box Pro 240p -> 480p is not too good? Should just be a line doubler right?

IMO there is nothing wrong with a HDBOX Pro / CGA to VGA scaler, especially hooked up through the SLG. It's not the best but what can you expect for $50 (+SLG). :mrgreen: A brand new XRGB-3 is what.... $400, so it is a trade off.

sounds good.
CGA->VGA on ebay is $35
SLG 3000 is $91
Total: $126
Less than a used XRGB-2+ and alot less than a new XRGB-3

Other option for me is to get a 14" Sony PVM for cheap, sit it side by side w/ my 17" PC CRT. Example.

I'm most likely moving into a much smaller space soon and need to seriously downsize my gaming setup.

Help please! I am interested in one of these but I have some fundamental questions about display options on the 360 that I asked in the MMP/PS thread but no replies there so far. Maybe someone here can help? Here goes...

Since I have both HDMI and VGA cables for the 360, I should ideally switch to the VGA with this converter for low res gaming and use the HDMI for all the ultra high res HR nonsense right? If I use VGA for everything, will 720/1080p games lose resolution through the VGA connection? I also have no idea how to lower the resolution output of the 360--I imagine I dont have the option to choose resolution because I currently have the HDMI cable hooked up, but I have not experimented with the VGA cable setting either, I must confess. I read somewhere that 640x480 is optimal for games like MMP/Pink Sweets, and all of the CAVE shmups, etc.

Will switching the res and using the VGA cable make a big difference for native low res games like MMP/PS?

Any feedback is truly appreciated.

You can switch to VGA for everything. The difference in picture quality between VGA and HDMI is subtle (at the most) and as long your TV's VGA port can handle 720p you're good to go even with native HD games.

You can choose the output resolution (no matter if you use HDMI or VGA), just enter the display options (My Box - settings to the utmost right). Here you can choose 480p and 4:3 for CAVE shoot'em ups. The SLG3000 will work with all resolutions, but only with 480p you get the typical CRT scanlines.

Remember of course that the the SLG3000 will only render horizontal scanlines, so you'll have to rotate your display for serious 480x640 pork business.

The xbox 360 mode in Deathsmiles looks great with scanlines @ 720p, smoothing off. With the exception of the dim power light my SLG has been working fine with 720p games lately, no drop outs.
