Xevious NES was actually renamed to Xevious: The Avenger. The classic NES series GBA release actually retains this title. It's not quite a movie or TV referance, but it's close.

Oh! I see. Well, the "straight face" emoticon looks sort of sad or desperate to me... Perhaps you could try the "laughing" emoticon, or maybe the raspberry, or maybe the... "evil" one.
(Example in point. Ha.)
Say, I was surprised to see a used copy of the US release of the game at a local GameStop. I picked it up, looked at it in awe, and it made me wonder as to what sort of person its previous owner might've been... Some young lad or lass, picking the game out at a nearby Wal-Mart or perhaps receiving the game as a gift and not understanding how to play it? A mainstream gamer, buying it because they thought that it was a continuation of the "Wolfenstein" series and selling it off in disgust? Perhaps somebody from one of these online shooting game message boards, purchasing the localized version of the game to go alongside their already-owned import, having a laugh at the translation and dubbing before setting it back on the shelf and forgetting about it until requiring some extra funds and noting its outlived usefulness...
... I then replaced it on the rack in the "budget games" section and went on my way, debating on the idea of mentioning it to one of my PS2-owning, unversed-in-shooting-games friends. I wonder if it's still there...

Somewhat off topic, but this topic reminds me of the Batman Beyond movie, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. It actually uses a subtitle first used in games named Batman Return of the Joker. Oddly enough, there were even some games based on Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
I hope the European release of Castle Shikigami 2 turns out good, but the cover doesn't exactly give me high hopes for it.
Here are some more made up subtitles that I can think of:
Forgotten Worlds: Land of the Lost
Golden Axe: Slayers
War Gods: Masters of the Universe
Bomberman: Apocycolpse Now
Dragon Spirit: Enter the Dragon
Trouble Shooter:Super Gals!
APB:You're Under Arrest
Shining in the Darkness: Guiding Light

Talking about bad covers remind me of when I got the game. I herd that when the game came out, it was $10 and it has some of the worst voice acting ever. One day in Daytona Beach, FL, I was in a mall, they have a EB Games store, so I went in. At the top shelf of all the PS2 games, CS2. So I brought the game, play it, and "Demo Off." Happy ever since.
I see worst cover art before, it's not even funny.
