Any good 2-Player 1CC videos?

Post by drunkninja24 »

I was thinking about this the other day, and I don't think I've ever seen one. I know serious score players don't hit up 2P mode, but I think it would be interesting to see a pair of skilled players taking on something like DDP co-op.

Anyways, if anyone knows of some good ones (doesn't have to be specifically DDP or Cave for that matter), just post them up!

another Giga Wing 2 Player 1CC (by me and a friend)

Giga Wing is great fun with two players although it becomes quite easy when you constantly protect your partner with your reflect shield and vice versa. The screwed up bullet patterns due to the aimed shots on the two ships get the difficulty back up a little bit though.

Scoring on the other hand would be extremely difficult if not senseless. Giga Wing 2 has score and multiplier for both players together which makes much more sense.

I haven't done any myself, well apart from that mess around Psyvariar video I did with spadgy.
Maybe I should do some with another good player some day.

Does it count if there's just one person controlling both players?

I'd quite like to do a two-player Metal Black 1CC. The 2P runs on YouTube are credit-fed to buggery. Wouldn't take long to train up for it again, but alas, I've no way to play it with anybody at the mo.

Darius Gaiden isn't really designed around 2 players, but we had a lot of fun finally completing it.

I think we might be doing a Great Thing or Storm Causer route eventually.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Would a two player run technically be a 2cc?

I know it's popular (and boringly predictable) to hate on Ikaruga, but controlling two ships at the same time and beating the game is an impressive feat no matter what game you choose to do it on.

Hey now, I wouldn't have put the non-existent :smug: emoticon there if I was srs, give me some credit.
That said, the reason it's even feasible to 2cc it like that is cause it's, well ... Ikaruga.
I don't want to belittle the effort, because it is totally an awesome feat and I will never do anything that impressive in my life - but it's more an awesome feat of autism than, say, genius.

Naturally there is a fine line there.

Heh, there is that, it's true. Then again, becoming expert at most shmups does require a certain obsessive streak. Maybe we're all at least slightly autistic...

In all seriousness, I would be shocked if that wasn't the case. It is a socially-awkward number-obsessing sausagefest every day on shmups.com, and that is no bad thing - though I could do without the pedo streak (and you better believe that's related).
I feel slightly left out because I am pretty ADD and I often lose interest in what I'm playing before I can even lose life #1. This is probably why I've only ever 1cc'd Gradius 1, why I am the board's biggest fan of 4-D Warriors, and why I wouldn't brake for the director of R-Type. Unless he also directed Cosmic Cop or Dragon Breed, which are awesome.

Let me know when you find a way to play it. I've been considering doing this with someone lately myself. I've been really enjoying playing the games on Taito Legends 2 with other people.

Yes, MAME32k and MAME++ (desyncs a lot, but emulates some games 32k doesn't) are what we use.
