Trying 2 find a commodore 64 shmup

Post by Nick420 »

So theres this game i remember playing as a kid, barely. Ive searched for it to the best of my ability and cannot discover what it was. Hoping someone can shed some light so as i can get that whole nostalgia buzz goin on lol :-)

All i can remember is this.
Its vertically orientated.
You pilot a ship over gridded terrain, as in like little squares, different colours.
The ship can jump, or hop a small bit, cant remember what its useful for.
The ship is kinda triangle shaped, with rounded corners i think..
And im almost certain you could change directions and head back down the screen almost exploring, like.

I hope theres no inaccurate info here but its very possible, it was a veeeery long time ago and i think it was my first experience with a shmup lol.

Many thanks if you can help me figure this one :-)

I dont think there was orange blocks. The colours i remember where mostly greyish blue........
Also if this helps, as you where hovering around jumping gaps and the like, If you stopped moving the joystick in a certain direction, your ship would not immediately stop moving there would be a slowing down, braking period...Again all this very hazy....:-/

OK xenon looks really close to what i remember, but still no jumping. Ive been searching some more and the game parallax comes quite close aswell. lol Its like a cross of the two. Also there is every chance the game im thinking of is free roaming,
I played this game in ireland so its also most likely that it was developed in the UK maybe by ocean or some1 like that, maybe not tho.... I really have searched and searched for this elusive little title but it seems to have been banished to the depths of video gaming hell :-( Great game 2! It was my favouite lol

Sounds like you may be talking about "Parallax"

You can fly in all directions and land/take off. This is because you have to find and rescue scientists by leaving your ship.

Ah Snare is a classic. You should also check out 'Zig Zag' by Tony Crowther if you like Snare.
