Here Come The Mummies.... The Mummies?

Post by captain ahar »

Hi all, been a very long time. I post this because I was suddenly very excited by the news and then severely crestfallen when my naive dream-fantasy was beat the hell down.

There was a notice in a local magazine advertising an upcoming concert, calling it "Here Come The Mummies." At this point I was shivering with excitement because I thought maybe, just maybe, they were speaking of The Mummies, a too good to be true band, made up of god's among men (I exaggerate, but still). And instead I find this.

Quoted from Wikipedia, Here Come The Mummies had this to say about The Mummies: "We are totally ignorant, this is a totally different band. We formed around 2000, and we did not find out about the 90s punk band "The Mummies" until several years later. Aside from the look and the underlying humor, we do not have much in common. That said, we do find their pictures, music and vibe very amusing. They are much better to watch, but we are WAY tighter."

Anyway, I only mention this here because it was due to a (former?) forum poster by the name of PaCrappa, that I found out about The Mummies in the first place, and figured this was as good a forum as any to tell stories about grand foolishness.

Regards,
capt

Cheers, captain ahar! I remember PaCrappa too. There's one guy whose bad side you don't want to be on, although when it happens to someone else, I get more lols than a health food store.

Hope all is well with you.

The Mummies are/were a great band, I have a few of their albums as well as the lone CD they released and love them to pieces. Be sure to check out the Baseball Furies if you haven't already captain, great stuff to be sure. :)

Here Come The Mummies were on the Bob & Tom show back in 2009. Good band but then B&T decided to play 2 of their songs every fucking show, which is like the morning radio equivalent of overplay and ruined my enjoyment of their music.

And that's why I never listen to Bob & Tom anymore.

I would see them in concert but I'd just be reminded of B&T more if they played one or both of the songs that got "overplayed" (Pants and Attack of the Wiener Man)

I remember seeing a video of a judo match of his this one time. His opponent wouldn't "tap out" and so he kept the hold going until the match was called due to the guys' arm being dislocated.

And I should be popping around more frequently, been trying to make some room with Deathsmiles, ESPgaluda II, and Mushihimesama Futari.

However, most of my video game playing as of late contains Spelunky and Rock Band, so we'll see...

kind of reminds me of old swedish 90s garage-punk band "Henry Fiats open sore" (always found that name hilarious).
