Okay so I saw some videos of Darius Gaiden Extra on ikaruga.co.uk and it has levels I've never seen before and they're all out of order with new bosses and stuff. And it seemed like the guy playing powered up REALLY fast. Where is this mode found? Is it on the console release or is it some kind of dip switch or something? Or am I just retarded?
Darius Gaiden Extra seems to be a re-release in the arcades, as all the Darius games have got Extra versions.
The bosses do feel a bit easier, but I didn't notice much change in the powerups.
Bit of a shame that there aren't many good videos of people playing the Darius games too.
the special version of the game is an hack that was authorized by Taito itself, because it featured one peculiarity: if starting on the second player, it will feature a marathon mode, which basically means doing all areas in alphabetical order. Bosses are the same, of course, and the default firerate is the one you can get by putting autofire at maximum speed on Saturn.

I was thinking in the videos I saw that the bosses looked pretty easy, but I figured the guy just knew what he was doing, and if I were playing I'd be headbutting bullets the whole time like I usually do on Darius Gaiden
