G-Darius - regional differences?

I'm just wondering if the Japanese version of G-Darius on the PS1 is different to the US or PAL versions in any way. Anyone know?
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

JPN doesnt seem to have the screen adjust from the pal version. Pal you can move the HUD around or even hide it.
The biggest unanswered question is where is the money? [1CCS]
