First play and I beat my PCB high score even though the slowdown is a tad less and I'm playing on a pad and a projector.

It looks gorgeous, the soundtrack sounds so much better in stereo and there's enough screen options to keep people happy.

Well done Rising Star!

Yup although any scores I've uploaded haven't shown up yet.

It appears to be running using the Espgaluda II port engine rather than the superior (in my view) Futari one.

I like how the advertising changed the ages of the girls but they're the correct age in game and manual. Not checked in too far with the localisation (only Sakura and Rosa) but it's not too cringeworthy. Achievements for 1CC with each character is nice to see!

Boom! Obviously they kept scores like mine and Skykid's on file.

I can hit a fair bit higher than that score. I'd love to hold onto a top 25 spot.

Can you post (or PM) me a link to that picture?

What, I don't even see me up there, and my score was better than some of these. Maybe I didn't save it properly. :(

Were you definitely playing Score attack and not just the normal mode?

This game seems to be getting pretty positive reviews and I really haven't seen any reviews that have totally missed the point with comments such as;

Lackluster visuals
Too short
Too easy
ZOMG there are no killstreaks!

PS. got my copy today... it's good.

There has been a little bit of a cock up with this game however (we assume it's a cock up anyway).

The soundtrack has been burnt as a data disc rather than a music disc. As a result, it won't play in a CD player.

I've got a sneaky feeling we're seeing something of an Ikaruga effect with the reviews, but it's nothing to complain about. They're at least saying what everyone's been saying for years - it's a great, accessible game - with none of the artfag crap that was seen with the former.

Futari PAL release next please. Yes, I know it's region free already but all the publisher needs to do is a tiny bit of localisation and it's ready to go as far as a port is concerned, and it'd be a great followup to DS if that turns out to be a success.

Got my one this morning. I am really happy with it. Played online with no lag. It's brilliant. One thing are the leaderboards working 100%?. I only see two guys on there that cannot be right.

They don't appear to be working yet, certainly not properly anyway. None of my score have uploaded.

I'm sure they'll be working by Monday though (hopefully)

i haven't had any problems with the leaderboards...you need to make sure you're playing score attack mode and on the leaderboards turn EX off maybe?

I'm playing score attack. It asks me to upload the replay which I do, but the score never shows up.

I've left everything default.

What's EX?

For those unfamiliar with how DS leaderboards work, they're split by whether you choose to play the extra stage (EX) or not. Nice to see they still haven't resolved how confusing this can be...

Guys. There's a thread for excited doormat moments and a thread for what you think of the game. This is the latter.
Skykid wrote:Dudes, keep the thread free of preorder stuff please, there's a long running history on this forum of people getting very irritated when preorder business and arrival dates clutter up topic threads.

Emphatic created a lovely thread primarily to keep discussion clean so please use that one.

I can't say in comparison, all I can say is there is quite a lot of slowdown in arcade at least.

I think it was covered earlier when Skykid reviewed it. The consensus was that the slowdown was pretty much the same as the Japanese release.

Yeah, arcade seems very accurate to me.

Preorder junk moved to preorder thread. Hoping that everyone gets their copies soon so that they can start talking about the game and stop talking about when it's going to arrive.

Skykid inadvertent shmups moderation win! :D

(Thanks nZero)

I'm going to be selling my UK copy of this soon, so no UK leaderboard fun for me. I'm sticking with the Japanese as console swapping is annoying.
How is everybody finding the game? Is there anyone who DOESN'T think it's the most amazing thing ever? You're always the quite ones, yet the opinions I most want to hear. Spill it! :o

I like it.

Famous last words but I'm finding it quite easy playing on rank 3.... death mode is another matter. I accidentally activated it once and I clearly don't quite understand the coverage that you get from your familiar so I'll leave that alone until I've cleared it. Coming from playing Mushi 1.5 I find this far less stressful in terms of the sheer amount of concentration I need.

I gave level 999 a go for a laugh, and a laugh it was..... a very short laugh. Something for the future perhaps.

Not really a big fan of horizonal scrollers in general (I tend to prefer verticals) but the bi-directional gameplay makes it more interesting for sure so that's a good thing. Comedy bosses make the game more fun. Slowdown is good (not commenting on how accurate it is but it seems the transition between full-speed and slowdown is predictable)

They left the Japanese SFX in which is good.

All positive from me...

How much was MBL on the JP marketplace when it came out? 1200? If so the value of this disc is superb; well it's superb anyway, I'm just trying to quantify it.

If you want to go nutso and do a initiate suicide bullets (either by playing 5 out of 6 stages on rank 3, or heading to the EX stages) it's actually a lot of fun and totally more manageable playing as Sakura on MBL. She has two options that make the perfect shield, and this way you get to hit up Ice Palace - the best Deathsmiles stage in the whole game.
