The Gradius/Yu-Gi-Oh! Connection

I had a hilarious WTF moment yesterday while having a game of Yu-gi-Oh! cards with my son.

Picture this. Yu-gi-oh! more or less revolves around two people having a duel with fantasy themed monsters. I´m definitely in the lead, having had a fair share of luck at the beginning of the game, when all of a sudden I´m confronted by the Gradius ship!!!!

At first I figured it had to be a joke, until I realized that Konami are in fact heavily involved in the whole Yu-gi-Oh! distribution thing.

That is definitely interesting there.

Now a Ganbare Goemon set of cards wouldn't be too farfetched

Every time I search for Gradius stuff on eBay, I find at least two auctions selling that card...

Back when I was into Yu-Gi-Oh, I had like 3 Vic Vipers. Of course, I had no idea where they came from until I actually PLAYED Gradius.

Also, take note of Gradius' Option.
