I don't know if I will be able to attend yet or not. If I do, I'll be in tow with Matskat.
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
It will certainly suck if you cannot make it caldwert. Get on that caravan with Matskat!
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
We shall see how my vacation days play out at work. I'd love to come up there and 1cc a Ranalli's or Giordano's pizza. Well at least try to 1cc which would be quite the feat.
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
There is a Giordano's right down the street from me about half a block...

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Got some bad news regarding my father today, definitely won't be able to make it now barring miracles occuring.
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Really sorry to hear that caldwert, best wishes.

Sorry to hear homeboy - sending happy thoughts your way.

Ooh, these are good I take it? Finding great food will be an important part of my trip down there.drboom wrote:There is a Giordano's right down the street from me about half a block...
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Pretty good - best Chicago style pizza is at Pizziera Uno downtown, best burger by far is at Kuma's - which we may have to go to, or at least get take out from, tons of good resturants by me and I can certainly make some good recommendations...
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
You are in our thoughts and prayers, caldwert.

Doctor,
May I suggest steaks from Tavern on the Rush....
Dry aged beef, cut thick, cooked HOWEVER...
YUM!
(Tad pricey though...my last steak there was a bone-in ribeye = $45. Everything else is a la carte)

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
That takes me back...I use to work for the Chicago Fire (2002-2005) and our offices were on the corner of Michigan and Oak and we headed out that way often after work.
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Thanks for the thoughts guys. Just a weird strange time right now, so I honestly have very little desire to play shooters at the moment. Trying to enjoy what time I have left with my dad.
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Man, i've always wanted to go to this. There will be some great forum members there with some great games. If only I wasn't nearly 7000 miles away...
Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Ahhhhh, our thoughts and prayers go out to you, Rob!
Do you need me to look after that awesome Batrider poster for you? You need someone to dust and polish it daily right?

Hah, thanks. I'm actually here on business. Kuwait isn't all that bad (except for the traffic....
).

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Oh, I just found out that I owe the government thousands of dollars, so a trip to Chicago is not possible.
Maybe another time.

And on that note, I'm back to looking for a carpool out of Wisconsin to be able to make it down there.
Dimahoo is a fun game.

Hey drboom, I'm holding the SF Bay Area meet on Sunday the 6th as well. We gotta hook these two up somehow with livestreaming or something.

Fujita has it for 48K yen. Great service, highly recommend.Matskat wrote:Anybody coming to the meet have a Mushihimesama kit or bare PCB to sell me?

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Live streaming would be great - problem is, I have no idea how to do it!
Let me look into it and see if I can figure this out. I do have a Macbook with a camera built in, so it can't be that had to get it going...

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
I recommend making an account and broadcasting to ustream.tv using adobe flash media encoder. That's pretty much the standard for quick, easy, and free streaming.drboom wrote:Live streaming would be great - problem is, I have no idea how to do it!Let me look into it and see if I can figure this out. I'm hoping to be able to pop up for a while with the Michigan crew. It would be fun to put my meager skills to the test, and see if I can steal any strategies for myself!

@Matskat - I'll second Fujita - great prices and good people to work with. EMS shipping is bananas fast too.
@ubersaurus - be glad to have you! And I think most of us here have meager skills, except for stuminator - that guy is a monster!

) Come on people....

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Yeah man - take sick days if necessary!
Just an update - I have Ketsui in the hose in PCB form - again! Should have a bunch of TV's, all my systems, my Astro, three old school cabs (vs. Castlevania/Goonies, Crystal Castles and Ghosts and Goblins) and pleanty of sleeping room.
Looking forward to having you all here again. Less than two weeks and counting...

Re: Chicagoland Winter Carnival 2011 - March 4th-6th
Ugh. That sucks.
I'll be doing another event in the fall again, so hopefully that one will work out for everyone who cannot make it this time.
