Instant Brain (Visual Novel by CAVE)

Post by Rebel Ninja »

CAVE has launched a website for a new game.

The site itself:http://www.cave.co.jp/gameonline/adventure/

The end of the countdown will coincide with the upcoming CAVE event.

All CAVE's game pages are called gameonline, so don't buy too much into that.

Hopefully not an MMO. That would suck. Maybe a devil-may-cry esk bullet hell game :) Like NOIR on crack!

maybe something akin to that new Iphone game Bug Panic.

Considering how Cave made their Red Katana teaser trailer seem like the game was some visual novel / JRPG it might even be a normal shmup

I'm pretty sure this is going to be a visual novel.

Loli porn VN with reverse traps and Mushihimesama futanari? Is CAVE finally trying to fully enter the PC market? (by providing a 18+ VN? lol)

See this and more in the next episode of "CAVE, release Ketsui 2: Manlier than ever"!

What's manlier than stroking your goo-wang to 12 year olds getting anally raped by tentacles?

I am going to assume it is a VN/ADV. So far all signs point to this. It could be PC or 360. If it is PC they can include H content, if 360 they can't. I don't know which would sell more. Steins;Gate did OK on 360 and it had no H content, so we will see. Umineko on PS3 apparently bombed pretty hard, but I sort of expected it since everyone into those type of "games" has probably already "played" it (the majority of talk about that release was if someone was going to rip sprites and audio to patch the PC version), but I digress..

I think the recent arrange is pretty much everything Cave wanted to say on the matter, otherwise they would have said it earlier. :P

*looks at teaser image* One dude and 5 chicks? Sounds par for Cave. Gotta love the variety of girls as to appeal to whatever ages guys are into (older mature, pedo-bait, highschool, etc.).

I posted a similar thing elsewhere.

When one considers the "fallout" of Idolm@ster 2 having a few guys in it (on Futaba, there were pictures of every im@s "thing" smashed to pieces, walls with holes torn through them with the games etc), it seems like a wise move on Cave's part if they want to make some money, heh.

In any case, I'll most likely be pre-ordering it. ;_;

If it's for PC... I would also order it.

But the idolm@ster thing leaves me speechless. Did they... really have to go to those extremes? If they don't like it just say "it's shit" and call it a day, these guys kind of start a mobile crucifixion engine!

So, who bets the Death Smiles cast will show up as extra/hidden paths?

If this is really a VN, if Cave have any brains they ought to include a shmup mini game or two. Or even better make it a STG / VN hybrid that that Balder Force / Sky or what ever the fuck its called.

I would probably buy it then, which I wouldnt if it was 100% story

EDIT: Maybe this will be that 360 original Cave said they were making

I thought there plan was to widen the appeal of the new games they make to allow for Western sales.

This doesn't look like that.

Looks appealing to me.

Of course, I'm not representative of the western audience as a whole. Most people's eyes would gloss right over this.

Maybe for their Iphone games and DS, but for everything else Cave still seems to geared towards Japanese exclusives. For example changing the english language section of their main website from just something aimed at corperate investers into something aimed for foreign gamers and fans would be something quite easy for them to do, but they havnt even bothered doing that.

Maybe they just dont care enough, or maybe its something intentional with Cave happy to maintain its cult status and rely on word of mouth from its fanbase to do their overseas PR / advertising.

I know for a fact they have hopes for there being a market for boxed copies of their shmup ports seeing release in Europe (PAL Deathsmiles being a toe in the water in that regard), and I've heard on the wind that they hope to broaden their global appeal by diversifying the genres of games they develop.

For those who haven't read Will's Cave interview, it's definitely one of the best international interviews they've given. Most have been shit, even the one in Edge.

The most interesting part:
"We are working to get Cave games to an international audience, so please, check out our games and stay tuned."

CAVE (is all caps standard for their name?) has always recognized that they have fans outside of Japan, but to see them acknowledge that at the end of the interview is great.

Formally it should be CAVE, but Cave officials have spelled it like a normal proper noun on many occasions.

Aslong as Cave continue to make non handheld games that I can play on a UK 360 or PC then Im happy, I hope those rumours turn out correct and we see more quality Cave games, Shmups and anything else they develop, aslong as it isnt a Visual Novel or a Sports sim then im sure ill be very happy with whatever they decide to make
