Chances of a Strikers 1999/3 + Zerogunner 2 Psikyo pack?

Post by ThirdStrike »

We have seen taito and X nauts share many of the psikyo releases on Ps2 so far.

Almost the whole catalogue has been released in some form or other.

The list of games still waiting for release on ps2

ZeroGunner
Space Bomber
Gunbarich
Zerogunner2 (I know the Dreamcast one rox but more people need to try)
Strikers 1999
Pilot Kids

Anyone think any of these games will get a Psikyo collection port on Ps2 or others?

It has been quite awhile since I have heard Of a Shmup release coming out later this year minus Raiden 3.

I would love to see these games get a PS2 release, but I have no idea how likely it is.

BTW, is Strikers 1999 the same thing as Strikers Plus (I've only played the latter in the arcade).

Well I think it all depends on how good their doublepacks have sold so far. If they made money on them, I guess releases of those games would make sense.

No.

Strikers 1999 (aka Strikers 1945 Part III) is set in 1999 (duh) using contemporary craft. Strikers 1945 + is a Neo Geo-only entry in the series that is mostly a remix of Strikers 1945 Part II.

Strikers 1999 uses a Tate screen while Strikers + uses a Yoko screen with borders.

VERY interesting. Thanks, Kiken. I thought the '1999' was just referring to when it came out. I'd REALLY like to see this game.

I thought X-Nauts said they were done after Psikyo Collection 3? I think if Zero Gunner and Pilot Kids came out on the same disc it would win "Shit-em-up" combo of the year. Space Bomber and Gunbarich would be snazzy tho.

Wait a sec, I thought that it was Taito that handled the Psikyo Shooting Collections. :?

I hope they're not done yet. I'd like to see the whole remainder of the Psikyo catalog finished off. If Dragon Blaze was ported from scratch for PS2, then surely Strikers 1999 wouldn't be too much work for them.

Here's how I'd line up the rest of the games for PS2:
Vol 4: Space Bomber, Strikers 1999, Gunbarich
Vol 5: Zero Gunner 1 & 2, Pilot Kids
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I hope they're not done yet as well; partly because I'd just really like a chance to play the first Zero Gunner. It's emulated, but it doesn't work on any version of MAME that I've tried it with.

Dragon Blaze probably failed thanks to fuckin' Trizeal. So I'd doubt they're too eager. Even if not, this speculation's kind of pointless, no?

Dave:
Get Model 2 Emulator. v0.1 alpha (m2emulator.zip) from
http://nebula.emulatronia.com/index2.ph ... as&lang=en

The program above requires DirectX 9 (link if you don't have it).

Upon extracting the files from m2emulator.zip, you will need to set a directory in the EMULATOR.INI (seriously, in caps :) ).
Search the document for ";Dir1=c:\Model2\roms". Add a line below it that says, without a semicolon, "Dir1=" and then whatever folder your zerogun.zip* file is in (I'm assuming you have it, I can't help you find it).
Ex.:
Dir1=c:\new folder\files\

Controls are: arrows, 5 (coin), 1 (start), Z (button 1), X (button 2), F2 (service), F3 (reset), F9 (FPS display toggle). While emulation is running, you may need to use the X on the program bar to close the program (Emulator>Exit does not always work).

*This needs to be the Zero Gunner (Model 2B) file, not the Model 2A version.

1. There are plenty of us around here who enjoy playing Trizeal, and
2. How in the world are you making a connection between the failure of Dragon Blaze, which is debatable to begin with, and Trizeal?! :?

I'll just refer you to this thread:

http://forum.shmups.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

And Dave, you posted twice in a row again. I don't mind personally but you might want to just edit your first one if you're looking to avoid any more drama-moments with less easygoing members

Point well-taken Neon.

But as far as that thread goes; sure, some people ARE going to be more excited over a Dreamcast release, because the system has out-lived itself, at least in this country, by 4 years!

If that means that less people purchase Dragon Blaze, who cares?! I know X-Nauts owns Psikyo now, but I seriously doubt that Psikyo is down to ONE employee, or that they've had THREE people pour their heart and soul into a damn good game, partly in order to save their company.

Yeah, XII STAG even.

As far as future Psikyo Collections go, I think it ends at volume 3. It was a good run anyway...Dragon Blaze was the icing and the cake. :)

Yeah it was a good run, especially for Psikyo fans.

But, IMO, unless your favorite shmup developer is console-exclusive, like Compile, for example, and you want every shmup they made, you need to get into PCB's. Because there are very few, if any, arcade shmup developers that have had EVERY one of their shmups make it onto a home console.

I have the Strikers collection for the PS2. I was happy with it, but you can rarely tell it was emulated.
