Which Shmups while waiting for Mushi?

Post by MadSteelDarkness »

Since a lot of us poor shmucks are still waiting to receive Mushihimesama from PA, I was wondering what you guys have been playing in anticipation of getting Cave's newest console release.

In my case, I've been playing a ton of Dragon Blaze from Psikyo Shooting Collection vol. 3. I still suck terribly at it, but I do seem to be getting incrementally better. That, and I figure that after playing this a bunch, the resolution issues in Mushi's port won't bug me at all. :)

For me it's Gunbird 2. I find it harder than Strikers II, but easier than Dragon Blaze, which completely kicks my ass. Staying alive is a real challenge in itself in Gunbird 2; add on coin collecting and I've really got my hands full. It's a real blast.

I'd had a bit of a shmup drought recently, and with Mushi's impending arrival I decided to get stuck back into DDP and DDP DOJ (a few days before Mushi shipped). Between then and now I've squeezed out my first 1CC of the 1st loop on each game, which I'm very pleased with (DOJ in particular).

So, with this practice done my Cave dodging instinct is back on form and I'm now awaiting Mushi with baited breath.

It's Ketsui for me, with bouts of Battle Garegga, in preperation for Ibara.

Although it probably won't help me survive Mushi's bullet patterns, I've been mostly playing Pulstar, R-type Delta and Final (still).

I think I can finally comfortably dodge Final's level 5 boss' nasty laser patterns and get to the last stages with more then just a single life left.

I've been playing a lot of R-Type Final lately too...cleared F-A on one life last night :o

Damn thing gave me Pokemon fever, been trying to catch 'em all in the R Museum. I'm up to like 60 ships.

It has mostly been rpgs for me lately, though a bit of fireshark now and then always livens the spirits.
