You could just write this in the Deathsmiles PAL thread.
But otherwise great idea and let's hope Deathsmiles sales well and we can get them to keep the shmups coming.

This is worthy of its own thread. I think it's time to replace a certain sticky, even.

Whilst that will ultimately dictate whether they do localise any other releases it would also be helpful to direct them towards what we want, which I assume first and foremost is localised versions of games that are not region free. In an ideal world they could localise everything, but as that's obviously not going to happen we'd rather see region locked games localised rather than the odd few region-free games that quite a few of us have probably already got.
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

True sales are the bottom line but without fans making a song and dance about the things we want I doubt there wouldnt be so many regoin free games like esp galuda 2 (which cave changed to RF right at the last minute to appease its non Japanese fans) and possibly 5PBs Bullet Soul who say they are considering making it RF.

Its also up to fans to tell the Devs when they fuck up, like the issue with DS' slowdown or the difficulties playing Guwange in fullscreen.

I suppose with the majority of the game industry, fan requests fall on deaf ears (or in EPICs case trolls them) but in our case it seems that Cave and maybe other shmup devs actually care what their fans think and try to occommodate requests if its feasable

Not if this story is to be believed. True, money speaks louder than words, but nagging can work from time to time.

I registered and posted at their "What games would you like to be released in Europe?" thread. Going by the site it seems these guys are a really competent group and I'd really like to see them try hard to get Deathsmiles and (should JoWood finally die and lose their rights to it) Raiden Fighters Aces in Australia retail.
If they can do that, they've earned a dedicated customer in me.

What I'm saying is that if people don't buy Deathsmiles, no amount of fan noise will encourage western publishers to localize anything else in the genre. Fortunately, there wasn't a large segment of the STG community demanding that Deathsmiles NA be boycotted or anything ridiculous like that.

I agree, it is nice that Cave is receptive to fan feedback. The Guwange 4:3 issue is pretty awful, and the Deathsmiles slowdown should not have been altered in "Arcade" mode. Hopefully the patches will make everybody happy. Regarding releases, I think most Cave games are region-locked because they are hoping to do western releases. This may still happen.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any EU success outside of the niche market (us, basically.)

Rising Star Games is basically our only chance to see these games localized at the moment, so yeah it would be a good idea to suggest these games for them. I also have registered for their site and suggested DFK for EU release. They seem to read those messages and they also often reply for them. Also check out their youtube page here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzzetoCS-w4 somebody suggested releasing DFK and they almost immediately responded that they have forwarded that suggest to their colleagues, so they definitely listen.

So get that message through and something might actually happen. They also have a Facebook page where people are asking for DFK and other CAVE games as well. If Deathsmiles sells well enough I don't see why they wouldn't release more CAVE titles. Put those preorders in!
