I think we don´t need a Pal release...The true spirit comes from the japanese shoot´em up games.

Either he's tired, a troll, or one of those "Oh I cant be bothered reading through this entire thread so I'll make a stupid assumption based on the title".Drum wrote:Um.Kazuya wrote:I think we don´t need a Pal release...The true spirit comes from the japanese shoot´em up games.
And I'm the tired one, so he must be of the latter.
Re: Raiden Fighters Aces Possible Pal Release..
Any idea if JoWood picked up any similar games recentyl?
... I wouldn't be surprised if they maybe took some cash and ran at this point - seems a right mess. They're basically saying they've been ripped off 2.4m euro by KOCH over their share price. I'm pretty sure this company has also received state funding/tax cuts to some degree. I'm no expert in this, but speculation anyway:
Given that the share price court issue will be probably resolved in favour of JoWood some might assume hope, but I suspect that this will essentially be held by shareholders rather than the actual company. It is a little strange that such a case would be brought after capital shoring if this was actually related to the survival of ongoing operations. I suspect instead an [legitimate] attempt to preserve the value of the company as profitable asset. Even if staff are still there I'd be surprised if they're not trying to jump ship...

No, we need the market to grow out of this petty regioning shit. It's not just customers getting upset with it either, I bought the Metropolis Blu-Ray and tried to play it on my player while set to region A. The disc is region B locked, so it popped up a message. The message was a 1 page rant about them being forced to lock it by the content owners, and pointing out that books and music are not region locked so why should films be? It ended by apologising for the inconvenience and advising me to buy a multi region player.BPzeBanshee wrote:That fucking does it. Is that the one published by Eureka? If so, I was surprised and not a little pissed off to find that it was locked to a specific region - their DVDs are usually Region 0, iirc, so I'd presumed the Blu-Ray would be the same.

I totally agree with you there, but trolling a more competent European publisher to snag the RFA rights seems more plausible to work than getting the entire market to stop region-locking, which is wishful thinking.system11 wrote:No, we need the market to grow out of this petty regioning shit. I have the same region-locking bitch with Cave, and even XBLA (I STILL cant get RayStorm HD legit in Australia, FUUU-).

On the Play.com website it says: Pre-order. | Due for release on 25 March 2011
Amazon UK also has it for pre-order, but doesn't give a date.
Although, if the above post about Jowood's insolvency is anything to go by, that release date may not mean very much...

According to what I have read from browsing JoWoods forums it seem that they survived, but are in a huge reorganisation

Re: Raiden Fighters Aces Possible Pal Release..
I assume that seeing as though some retailers are listing the March 25th release date, and others the February 16th, that this game isn't coming out this February. With 2 weeks to go until the February date it's unlikely that all retailers wouldn't be getting the same info about what stock was due to arrive soon.
With JoWood being almost in limbo, the best thing for us is if they did go under and someone else was able to pick up the game once their assets were sold off. At least that way we would eventually get this game. If they are instead busy dealing with lawyers and administrators they aren't going to be releasing games any time soon until they are fully operational again.

I know, but Ive been trying to find ways for my friend to get RayStorm and being screwed over with XBLA regionlocking really pissed me right off. It's not that easy to find RayStorm in Australia these days without being a 30 year old with a job, connections and having like 200 bucks backing you for eBay sales with no guarantees.Wonderbanana wrote:To be honest in that case you ain't missing much.BPzeBanshee wrote:and even XBLA (I STILL cant get RayStorm HD legit in Australia, FUUU-).

It's remarkably easy to find the PS1 and PC versions for a hell of a lot less than that.

Okay, I might've been slightly exaggerating about the price. Probably 100 bucks for the PS1 version.E. Randy Dupre wrote:It's remarkably easy to find the PS1 and PC versions for a hell of a lot less than that.

By the way I'm talking Australian dollars, and including GST and shipping/delivery. Point is, all that extra effort would be thrown out if people were competent enough to make a worldwide release actually worldwide.

For what it's worth I had an email through from Shopto this morning advising Raiden Fighters is out on the 11th as above and on the site it still says it's out in 10 days. Fingers crossed!exquisite_torture wrote:ShopTo advise 11th Feb.

Re: Raiden Fighters Aces Possible Pal Release..
I just came here to post about this. A few days prior to this I also contacted them to basically ask if they had been told anything about this game and whether the Feb 11th date was a "real" release date or just a placeholder. I was told "that is the date we have been given by the developer". Take that to carry as much weight as you wish.Wonderbanana wrote:For what it's worth I had an email through from Shopto this morning advising Raiden Fighters is out on the 11th as above and on the site it still says it's out in 10 days. I'd say it would be a little unusual to include the game in their email of release schedules if they didn't have a decent reason to believe the game was coming in. It has also been featured on some of the quick link buttons on their website over the past few weeks which also usually indicates that the release is genuine and close.
We're still hoping, and of course JoWood could very easily have told them this date and pull-it at the last minute again, but there are some signs that point to a positive outcome.

Re: Raiden Fighters Aces Possible Pal Release..
my usual game shop in switzerland also lists it for March 2011, and from experience they are pretty well informed about release dates. Sure, if a game get's pushed back they can't do anything about it, but i believe if it really were to release on Feb 11 they'd list it as that.
about JoWood: after the debacle that was Gothic III, this publisher died for me. Even though they can't say it officially, i'm convinced that JoWood forced Piranha Bytes to release the game, because JoWood was in a pinch money wise. The result was a game so buggy and inbalanced that everyone could see that the game simply wasn't ready for release. And for me it was the death of a series that i really loved up to that point (i played through Gothic I 3 times, Gothic II 2 times and Gothic II incl. addon 5 times).
I'm glad Piranha Bytes broke up with JoWood after that and the Addon as well as Gothic IV were not developed by the original developers, as JoWood held the rights to the franchise. Piranha Bytes went on and developed a new game, that felt and played a huge lot (maybe even a bit too much) like Gothic I and II.
because of this the name "JoWood" already leaves a bad taste in my mouth and what's happening with RFA just proves it again.

Might as well give up on this being released this year at all. Until another publisher buys the rights to it we won't be seeing it from these JoWood clowns and the only way I see anyone getting hold of the publishing rights is if they go bankrupt.exquisite_torture wrote:Wonderbanana wrote:For what it's worth I had an email through from Shopto this morning advising Raiden Fighters is out on the 11th as above and on the site it still says it's out in 10 days. I don't mind because I've got plenty to play and deathsmiles coming out in a a few weeks; it's just annoying that a PAL release was on the table but a useless company is dealing with it.

Ahh what! I was starting to get hopeful of a release then. Should have learnt by now with this game not to get my hopes up.
Nevermind, Deathsmiles is out soon and i've just come into some money so i've decided to get Muchi Muchi Pork! & Pink Sweets, Espgaluda II Black Label and Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5 from Japan, so i'll have my SHMUP fix sorted for a good while!

Goddamnit ShopTo! Put back another 24 hours to March 4th.
Zavvi still advise Feb 11th and have it listed as No.8 in their pre-order chart, with Deathsmiles listed as No.2. Odd.
