Raiden Fighters Jet 2000 sync and screen flip help please

Post by burgerkingdiamond »

I have a RFJ 2000 pcb. I can't find anything on the board to screen flip. Is there a way?

Also, more importantly, I can't get it to sync. I thought that at first it was my monitor (TV w/converter) but after some googling I found that some Seibu boards sync at like 54 Hz which I guess is unusual. I tried adjusting my monitor V pos/H pos and everything else I could try to no avail. Is there anything alse I could try?

Also I read it could be a voltage problem. Could this be a low voltage or high voltage problem?

BTW, you may have noticed that I have this for sale. It's not promised to anybody yet, so I will end up keeping it if I can get this sorted out.

Thanks.

There is probably no way you can get a 54Hz Seibu PCB running on a standard TV set. A standard NTSC telly syncs to rates between 59 and 61Hz, but that's it. If you got a multi-standard TV then you also got the 49-51Hz range covered, but for 54Hz you need a real multisync monitor which isn't expecting anything NTSC-like.

Ok. Then I guess I'll give up. Do you know of any other games that sync like this. I don't want this to happen again.

Other Seibu boards and some Mortal Kombats from Midway. Also a few Toaplan boards.

You can check this before buying in MAME or on http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/

Thanks for the link! I won't make the same mistake again. I'm glad that my Raiden II and DX boards work. They are on the border with 55.47 Hz. It would have been a disaster to get that DX board home and have it not work, luckily the RFJ was relatively cheap.

Too bad though, I'm not gonna be able to get any RF boards unless I buy a new monitor (won't happen anytime soon). I still think it's weird that there's no screen flip. Is it the same for RFJ with the Seibu MOBO?

Anybody have info on getting into the service menu for this board? I'm trying to get it to screen flip. I have a prospective buyer, but if it doesn't have screen flip he doesn't want it.

I can't find ANY buttons/dips on this board. Only thing I can find is Volume pot.

You'd have to press the "service" button on your supergun setup to access to the Operator's Settings screen with the RFJ-2000 PCB. It does save the settings once it's powered down for the night. It can be configured to be "credited" (aka coined-up) or set on "Free Play" if you wish.

There doesn't seem to be a method to unlock the cool hidden extra fighters from the get-go with this RFJ-2K PCB though. I do know that with a dedicated Seibu Kaihatsu SP1 mobo and seperate RFJ cart setup, the hidden fighters are unlocked after a certain time period.

I'm just using a RGB -> S-Video converter connected to the JAMMA harness inside my candy cab (long story. The original monitor neck snapped and I couldn't afford another 29" arcade monitor, found a 29" TV that fit the bezel perfect). Not a whole supergun setup. I have no service button. I thought there should be one on the PCB itself. That's how it is on my DonPachi.

Problem solved. In the service menu, duh! My cab doesn't have a service button, and all my other boards just have dips or a button on the board itself. So I didn't realize there was a SERVICE pin on the JAMMA connector. Looks like I should wire up a button for that.
