Anyone in the area coming? Anyone ever been? This is my first so I don't know what to expect.

I've been to the one last year in San Jo..kinda bleh.

Since this one is closer to SF,I'm hoping it'd have a better turn out than last year's mess.

And yes,I will be there.

Yep, I was there at the CGE2K4 show...CGE2K4 auction rocked!

I went to the CGE2K show in San Jose last year. Some dude had brought his Supergun with Viper Phase 1 U.S.A. setup set on "Free Play". Very cool and brings back awesome memories of playing VP1-USA arcade upright at a local arcade in Spring of 1995 (set at four nickels per credit -- all arcade games & pinball games were set to take nickels as the choice of credit).

It was cool to watch some very skilled players do their thing on the Konami Gradius V shmup contest. I just wish there were more shmups to play there (or better yet, more Superguns setup for people to play some cool modern-day arcade shmups would've been ace). I didn't like how close the indie video game music bands were to the retro gaming console area...you really don't want music to be drowning out the classic gaming console area when playing a serious gaming session.

I did get to see Walter Day of Twin Galaxies Scoreboard fame + Billy Mitchell showing off his ace "Donkey Kong"arcade skillz on a Mame to Jamma arcade upright setup.

The video game auction on Saturday night was a riot...John Hardie was the auctioneer for the entire CGE2K4 video game auction event. The most expensive auction item was a custom-made PS1 portable (with a bitching cool crystal clear purple with glitter sparkles mixed through out the custom-made PS1 handheld shell) that was powered by a Sony camcorder battery and fetched a whopping $640.00 USD! Of course all proceeds went to charity...benifitting Special Olympics this time around. 2,000+ dollars was raised at that Saturday's night classic video game auction. The very last auction item were two bottles of Jose Curevo + some lime slices thrown in at the last minute...fetched an insane $126.00 USD! The dude who plunkled down that serious chunk of change downed both bottles as on-lookers chanted "Chug! Chug! Chug!" and broke out in applause when he finally finished.
