Questions about HDBOXPRO (or clone) and SD Component

Post by fagin »

Hi,
Can someone answer these questions......

Assuming I wanted to connect from SCART RGB (console, i.e. SNES, Saturn, PCE etc) to a HDBOXPRO scaler and then through to a SLG3000, could I do the following:

1. Wire a loom from the RGB Scart to 3 x Phono for SD Component?
2. Plug mentioned component in to HDBOXPRO?
3. VGA output from HDBOXPRO to video in of SLG3000 (assuming the above two points)?

Basically looking for the cheapest way to convert SCART RGB to upscaler and then through SLG to LCD.

Do all the HDBOXPRO's (or clones) output a minimum resolution of 640x480.

Regards,
Shaun

no, not possible. That would just be a mere adapter for the case that your source already delivers component video through scart.

You need a RGB to Component transcoder which is an active converter.

no, the original HDBoxPro with the newer firmware versions don't anymore. You can request the other FW when ordering though. The Lenkeng versions usually do offer 480p output.

Hi Fudoh,
Thanks for the information and I thought it was too easy and needed a transcoder.... crap! :(

What's the cheapest way to scale from RGB SCART to the SLG in your opinion?

Buying a linedoubler which directly takes in RGBs. Recently a Cinemateq linedoubler went for only 40 EUR on eBay. That's quite a steal since it's way better than a HDBoxPro plus transcoder. Might involve the need to have some patience though...

There are RGB SCART to component adapters on eBay at the moment
